Copey Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 hmmm not sure would be a close one, think the minis small size and weight could give it the edge tho...
Guest MK1gaz Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 The mini should win unless it's got 35 bhp
Admin Vista Posted September 19, 2007 Admin Report Posted September 19, 2007 Sorry Dave I'm with the others, Cortina is a big heavy car for a 1600 Pinto
the master Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 sorry but the mini gets my vote, unless they cant drive for toffee
marky4 Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 i think the mini but good luck anyway
stephens_xpack Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Bet you wish you hadn't asked now? Go Cortina . . . . . . . . . . . Ok, the mini!
DeanMk1Capri Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Altho i'd like to say the Tina I think it would be the mini
mk14dr Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 let his tyres down if you really want to win
abarth78 Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 mate get those tyres down to 15psi and get rid of some extra weight...
geoffersmasher Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 ive voted cortina just so it may spur you on but it doont look healthy
Stu_B Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 My bro had a 1275gt & that thing flew..... good luck though!
jimmyesh Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Mini I'm afraid mate! Good luck anyway
mossy Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 going with the mini, my mate has one and eats rs's
Daveyboy20 Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 My mate has a mini with 1275 kandn nice cylinderhead and bigbore exhaust and the acceleration is almost identical to my cortina which is 1600cc with 32/36 carb and straight through zorst an a 4 speed box! A lot of the time i seem to be catchin up ever so slightly but its very close. Id say the cortina may just have the edge, they aren't as heavy as they look, i pushed mine up a big hill by me when i ran out of petrol! big empty boot no big struts or bulky inner wings and they are actually smaller than a lot of people think. Let a bit of air out the rear tyres for a better footprint, and fingers crossed! How many people you taking down? you could always strip the interior for the weekend, take a bit of octane boost!
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 well hes droped out now (the mini) im still running tomorrow so will let you know my times tomorrow night
russ105e Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 You could have pulled a red light and swerved into him
RETRO_AL Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 I had a mini with a minisport 1.3 and it had 96bhp and it whet realy well,no way a 1600 cortina would keep up
Jay_harrier Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 a mate ran a 1430 mini with a big single SU, big valve head etc - scary little monster, sub 8 second to 60.
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 he didnt run but i ran 20.144 seconds @67.28 mph (1.275 reaction time) i got a .955 reaction time but missed second gear so ran 20.623 seconds @65.83 mph also ran once without getting into 4th gear still ran 67 mph though
mk1mexico Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Well done thats a respectable time for a 1.6 pinto cortina
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 cheers what should i expect if i put a healthy 2.0 pinto in it ?
