RETRO_AL Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Well its getting near the time to put my baby away for the winter, just wondering what people do when there car is going to be left in the garage for 6 months? Ive run the car so there is hardly any fuel left, so if it does go off i can chuck a load of fresh in and it should be ok I have a kill switch which ive turn to off,but should i disconect the battery aswell? Should i jack her up and put on axle stands so the weight is off the tyres? Any tips would be great
Messenjah Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 how about stop being a pansy wet winter roads are where its at
sab6024 Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Mine's off the road for the winter this year. Not through choice though, Can't afford to Tax the two cars yet
dragaddict Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 if you are going to stop the car for a short time don't leave those tyres touching the ground, one you will lose thr roundness of the tyre and second if you're useing slicks the compound of the tyre gets more hard by time m8
MK2Ed Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Grease key points on the car and disengage the handbrake chocking the wheels... There may be some more - will try and dig them out...

davreeve Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Ive only got the one car so it gets used all year round .I do coat the underside in waxoyl though and clean the paint more often .If it rusts or gets damaged its a good excuse for me to pull it apart and change the colour scheme etc.
james p Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 if you cant / dont want to leave it on axel stands spin the wheels off and slap some shit scrappy ones on
Admin Vista Posted October 12, 2007 Admin Report Posted October 12, 2007 I'm with messenjah, using it is the best way to look after it. There are dry days in winter too and why go to all the expense and hassle of OSF ownership to only drive it half the year?
PIG Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 keep it on the road al you big girl, ive been using mine everyday m8.

I kind of agree..... we have had Decembers like summer in recent years......it's just a gamble paying £99 quid or so and getting bad weather. This looks good if you have the space.....a 'cair-o-port' storage thingy on ebay quite reasonable at moment. One day or so left: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=006
c1arke Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Wat put it away its not a tutors you no. just think driving on a nice day after loads of rain and so tit boy racer comes past you and the you get to a round about SIDE WAYS ALLLLLLLLLLL the way round
Admin Vista Posted October 12, 2007 Admin Report Posted October 12, 2007 it's just a gamble paying £99 quid or so and getting bad weather. I don't see it as a gamble at all, I consider it money well spent. Think about it, in the 6 months it's untaxed, you're bound to get at least 20 or 30 dry sunny (if cold) days, that works out pretty cheap fun in my book. Think how much it costs to keep and run a car with the spec that Als is and then only get your fun out of it for 50% of the year.
Rick Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 keep on driving it mate! just be careful on those wet roundabouts
Guest MK1gaz Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Yes lots of good dry winter days for a blast plus i've got a heater so my windows don't steam up and my tootsies stay warm
