Funny thing about petrol stations, on a run I average about 33-35mpg, even better to Avon Park last year ,must be something about big engines and not having to run 4.4+ gears

Guest MK1gaz Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 You best get a 5 litre V8 in the tow van then Toby , it would then run 12's with the cortina strapped to it's arse !!!!!!!!!

There is actually something to be said for putting big engines into a van, a god mate of mine used to run outlaw Anglia in its early years, His answer to going fast was BIG engine and LOADS of gas and was running 10s without problems, Along came a 502, so the Pontiac 455 came out of the Pop, Fed up with tripping over the 455, we hatched a plan to remove the wheezng 2l pinto from his Mk2 Transit, it took a weekend to do, and drove very well complete with auto box, Now Dave used this van for work, so it was a daily driver, Driving it around town he was getting on average about 8mpg better than the Pinto, mainly due to him not really having to work the engine in traffic, just let the Torque do the work.
