Mr Sam Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 mate you have to hear V6COL's motor and you thought twin webbers sounded sexual
Wessie Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 it all depends what you want to use the car for
cyrix Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Use it as a large paperweight? Then fit something more powerful and a quater of the weight. I love the sound, ive got one in my cortina, but its a waste of time tuning them, given what else is out there. Mines got Uprated head/cam and 390 Holley, seems to go quite well.
hellblue Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 ...what would you do to make it more powerful? Bin it & drop in a 24valve
RFChris Posted November 12, 2007 Author Report Posted November 12, 2007 ...what would you do to make it more powerful? Bin it & drop in a 24valve Well, as it's a genuine 3.0S i'd rather keep it in there. just with a bit more bite.
johnny_h Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 In the ripspeed department of halfords they do this well wicked stuff called liquid nos or summat. it only costs about 800 pounds a litre and it makes your car well fast innit

Bin it & drop in a 24valve Well, as it's a genuine 3.0S i'd rather keep it in there. just with a bit more bite. I applaud your sense of loyalty but the venerable Essex is a pricey lump to get good power out of. 6 cylinders, 6 pistons and 2 heads to play with means roughly a third more parts and machining costs than a 4 pot. I think I put around £3000 (in 1998) into the engine of my old Mk1 3.0 litre and it was still only around 150 bhp at the flywheel.

I wouldnt go nobbing around with it!
capriaddict Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Well, as it's a genuine 3.0S i'd rather keep it in there. just with a bit more bite. Glad to here it Um as you havent driven it yet are you sure you can handle it with more power (just going by your track record in the 2.8i ) But in all seriousness I would keep it standard maybe a K&N and a nice exhaust to help it breath a bit better! I wouldnt go nobbing around with it! Totaly agree there mate and its allready got the K&N and a powerflow stainless exhaust. IMHO just get it back on the road first drive it, find out what its like then decide what if any mods you want to do to it
capriaddict Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Or fit one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=016
