Wessie Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 someone put the cat amongst the pigeons , mk3's arent oldskool m8 but welcome to the site
john_3.0s Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 may I ask why not? FWD?? well fiestas are FWD AND old skool... fuel injection?? well there are lots of EFI pinto powered cars around... Too new?? we all like capris and they were made up until the mid 80s.. I dont really have an opinion myself, but just interested in the logic behind the thinking
BIGKEV Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Sorry Bud - we dont think they are but you are welcome to join in with the site cos if you love old skool (i.e. the cars in the banner at the top) then we dont care what car you have - but its not an OSF
Guest c0rktina Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 a true Ford fan would be interested in your car whether or not "they" decide its old school...if you cherish your car, then thats all that matters....
john_3.0s Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 a true Ford fan would be interested in your car whether or not "they" decide its old school...if you cherish your car, then thats all that matters.... well said sir out of interest is a mk1 mondeo diesel old skool yet?
Messenjah Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 no and never will be john3.0s what is commonly decided is that its oldskool if it wasnt designed by a computer (i think tbh i dont really care lol but that seems to be a common opinion)
john_3.0s Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 depends what u mean by "designed" m8, computers had been used from the 70s onwards for finite element analysis, failure mode analysis and some basic design and manufacturing. Im certain you will find this was the case with the escorts and prob more so with the mk2/3 capri and fiestas. Im not trying to stir up trouble, just tring to place some logic on what seems essentially to be an irrational catagorisation.
Darren390 Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 I think whats OSF and whats not is down to idividual opinions. I was looking for a Mk3 XR3i before I got the Capri. I know FWD is classed as 'modern', but if the Fiesta is OSF, why cant a 24 year old Escort be??
Mr Sam Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 some are ok but not old skool sell it and buy a mk2
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 30, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 30, 2006 Okay .... this is such old news While your XR3i is becoming regarded as a classic car .... it is not classed as one on this forum. However, you are more than welcome to enjoy the site
Guest TheXEgrowler Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 HELLO PEEPS IS MY OR ANY MK3 XR3I OR XR3 OLDSKOOL OR NOT JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF THEY ARE OR NOT REALLY ANY POINTERS LET ME KNOW THANKS,,,,
mk2_boy Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 no no no no no no no nono not old skool... but will do as you daily hack, while ur looking for an old skool ford mate, i'm in to (FWD escorts mk3/4 only) but round here u have to keep it on the down low! welcom though, the only FWD on here is a mk1 fiesta and docs pop!
mk2_boy Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 htis was a topic about 2 years ago! and it was decided then that while mk3's were cool cos they were gettin older, oldskool it is not! havin said that if u buy a mk1 fiesta stuff all the running gear into it... thats a result of an idea!
Gibson Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 yea they just dont have the essence of the oldskool ford im afriad...
Wessie Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 THERE NOT OLD SKOOL end of , but enjoy the site m8
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 I personally am a huge fan of the Mk3 Escort, and love the early XR3's But to qualify for "Old Skool" status, the vehicle had to be in production and for sale to the general public before 1979. That is why there are late Capri's included, the Mk3 Capri was originally a 1970's design. But as has already been said, you won't get any grief here, I personally would like to see some pics, but they are not to everyones taste. Do you have an older Ford??? If so, get pics up of both in "Readers Rides". Hope this helps
105Nick Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 I just dont do front wheel drive. Mk2 escy's bordering on a bit new for my tastes even
DeuceCoupe Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 deffo not old skool yuk my opinion get an old one
