RFChris Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I have decided i am going to restore my 3.0S and then sell it!!! "But why?" you might ask.... ....well, i want to buy a Sier ra..... or at least the chassis of a Sier ra, but it'll be V8 powered. Oh, and it'll look like this... ...that right there is the new Mill Mustang replica, and while some of you might frown upon the notion of a copy i think you'll have to agree that it's probably the closest some of us will ever get. Oh, and i'm not kidding, i really do want one!
FlashCadillac Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 how much is the kit? how much is the seirra? how much is the engine or just buy a real one for 12k? just save and buy a real one
RFChris Posted December 17, 2007 Author Report Posted December 17, 2007 how much is the kit? how much is the seirra? how much is the engine or just buy a real one for 12k? just save and buy a real one Yeah, 12k equivalent to ship one over. Even if you did find one in the UK for that money it's almost a certainty that it'll be a nail. Ship one from the states and you don't know the history. And then live in fear of taking it anywhere, also have to deal with the issue of sitting on the wrong side of the damn thing. Oh, and the kit is £7900 plus the engine of your choice and paint. ....plus you wouldn't be afraid to use it everyday, and it'll be dirt cheap insurance.
mart67 Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 if you want a real one mate that looks like that, you will need a rather large cheque book! i just sold my 67 fastback cuz there fetchin silly money at the moment!
hotrodholty Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 my dads got a 68 390gt fastback, manual (just like bullet) he paid 10k and shipped it in from spain about 10 years ago. its now worth about 40k however i do think by the time you've built it you could have a real one, for about the same money. my dads is a very rare, desirable car, hence the price. you can still get notch backs and some fastbacks for well under 10k. have a look in custom car mag. with kit cars its all the odds and sodds that ad up( handles, switch, ect ect ect) personally i like it but i dont see the point
RFChris Posted December 17, 2007 Author Report Posted December 17, 2007 ....my dads is a very rare, desirable car, hence the price... Which is why i'll never own one, i don't mind if it;s real or not, i like the way it looks. Thats why i'd happily drive a 3dr Cossy rep or even an Escort Cossy rep if it was good enough. I don't have cars so i can polish them and only take them out in the sun, when the roads are quiet (not suggesting that your Dad does). I own cars so i can drive them, thats why the kit appeals to me. It is inch perfect, the doors, bonnet and bootlid are all Mustang items. I think it's a cool idea, and i may well look into investing in one. It might not be a proper 'Stang but i'd drop a V8 in it. And you have to admit, getting up in the morning and getting in one of those would put a smile on your face.
capriaddict Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 and in five minutes something else will come along and you'll want that instead you young'n's are never happy P.S. Dont forget to call me first if you do sell my capri

countrybumpkin Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 that is so cool, at a fraction of the cost of a real one, who makes the kit and do they have a website as i may be tempted to build on of those
RFChris Posted December 17, 2007 Author Report Posted December 17, 2007 fair enough, but before you commit have a look around at the real ones mate and work out the full cost of the kit (paint, trim and all the other bits)i think you'll be surprised If I didn't do what i do or know the people i know then a real one may well be a wiser option. It won't cost me as much as it might cost Joe Bloggs because i already have the expensive bits (wheels, a paint-man {cheers Dad!}) and my uncle lives in Phoenix and is into his motors in a big way so trim shouldn;t be an issue. It should be a nice bit of fun if i ever do it....IF.
geoffersmasher Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 it gets my thumbs up an awsome looking kit car

bronze4door Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 i have seen an rs200 replica that was basically a subaru with the rs body on top
FlashCadillac Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 chris... just no... please dont so £8k for the body.... if its just based on the chasse then there is a lot of work in that side to strip it down and get the kit to fit.. your looking around £1.5k prob closer to 2 then your have a v8 to find which your looking at £500 for a sluggish stock motor paint.... £1k at the best interior asn you wont want the seirra interior.... £800 for a cheap it'll do type of thing those wheels will cost the earth at around £1200 a set.... then there is the imbarasment of when people find out its a sierra and people just laugh at you it looks like eleanor... so people think that you bum the film and getting so common its uncool i mean... who the fook would do that to a real shelby you say you wont worry about leaving it in town if someone is stupid enought to to design it... and people are daft enought to build one.... then people are going to be stupid enought to think its real and try and steel it and cos its got shitty sierra locks in it that will take them all of 2 minuits Whilst you could buy this for just short of £12 import and registration will be around £1.5K.... its steel... its a real mustang... it doesnt look like eleanor and its fookin gorgeous and im trying to think of a good reason not to buy one for when im 21 http://www.mustangclassifieds.com/mustang-2570.html

FlashCadillac Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 thats because its brand new they cant charge you new car tax on an old car
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 It's gonna be smart as long as you spend lots of cash on it . My mates fitted and painted lots of kits (a.c cobras , lambos , westfields , W.R.C. look-a-likes etc ) and they are usually crap quailty and take weeks to fit at £35 an hour + VAT . You need tons of prep work and filla to get them to look right but it can be done . It's gotta have a V8 in it to get the right noise and i'll say £20,000 at least for a decent motor . Much cheaper than a real Shelby though , i think it looks good
