thelastbandit Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 Been using my '56 Pop since the day I bought it in August, but just bought a (don't laugh) Fiat Cicento to run around in while I take the Pop off the road for some fairly major surgery! Hope to have it up and running again by May, but may keep Cicento for Winter use and just take the Pop out on "Nice" Winter days.
Twinkle Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 always used all of mine all year round. great fun on the nice frosty roads
bortaf Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 This year is the first year i've not had one on the road but thats due to cash, or lack of, not through choice

jimbo Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 20000 miles in 18 months says I must use mine everyday. Over the holidays, the car is going to hopefully get us Tring -> Bristol -> Evesham -> Rickmansworth -> Linlithgow -> Crinan ->Evesham - Sutton Coldfield -> Tring - 1327 Miles. Bring it on! The cold, the salt, the ice.......... I'll be peeved if we do all that mileage eand don't get spotted!
Gareth Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 My mk1 Escy's in daily use, would've been sharing duties with my mk3 'Tina if I'd had the time to sort the bodywork out on it
mk14dr Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 tha's all soft Abuse>Break>Fix and repeat And you've gotta use 'em in the winter otherwise you'll end up wasting the 1day of snow in some unispiring FWD hack D
RUSTYPUP Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 My Cortina is used every day and my missus is using the Capri every day. Only because I haven't fixed her 1600E yet They do deteriorate over the winter, but I have never had and do not want a modern car
capriv8 Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 not quite daily but it's MOT'd n Taxed to drive all year round - took it for a spin today!
martymk1 Posted December 25, 2007 Report Posted December 25, 2007 use the mk1 only on selected days & use the mk5 everyday, all year round, wouldn't drive anything newer
Andy504 Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 My essy estate is my daily driver, restored it, so i drive it specially when you have the slippery weather, thats what RWD is for. isnt it obviously the winter weather will take its toll, but when it does i will repair her again, an then thrash her again.

yorkester Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 Use mine every day, for work, the shops, OSFDC. I wear gloves if its really cold and every time i park it in the drive or at work or at the shops i cant resist turning around for one last look. I love it
ilovegrannys Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 The Granny is on the road this winter as the Scooby has run out of MOT, and i dont get paid until the end of the week-not a bad thing really. The old girl is starting in the mornings but clearing the condensation is nightmare...HAPPY DRIVING
duttnut Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 every time i park it in the drive or at work or at the shops i cant resist turning around for one last look. I love it I do that too
mk14dr Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 I drove to work this morning with ice on the windscreen, the window open to clear condensation and driving rain. And I still wouldn't have it any other way yorkester - I know exactly what you mean D
Univex Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 I took mine out today for a bit of a Boxing day blast. Over the last month or so I haven't used it apart from starting it up on the drive and driving around the block when it's dry. It is my only car, but I steal my mums car to get to work and if I need to go anywhere during the weekend. I know if you look after the car well enough there is nothing wrong with running it all year. However, if I don't have to use it, I don't. Just to make life easier.
