it's gotta be done though Toby . Battered crap looking £300 mk2 escort 4 door , £200 1.8 nissan turbo engine + gearbox etc with 15psi of boost and 100bhp of gas = 300+ bhp probably . It should upset a few posh motors off the lights down the by-pass :lol::lol:

I don't have a problem with the great idea!! But you should have, otherwise it could be said that you are a little hypocritical!! :ykt:

i had a quick measure up pf a ca18det the other day and it would be a fairly easy job to do. box is about the same lenth of a type 9 .engine itself is a bit shorter than a pinto with the viscous fan binned. one bugger is the sump will need turning. wiring is easyish as mostly seperate from the rest of the car. sr20det are more or less the same to fit i think.

drove my bro's 200 bhp s13 200sx the other day and it really goes well, i was concidering putting a ca in my mk1 toyota starlet, power to weight would be amazing :D .

word of warning, prices are going up fast though and the cheap cars normally mean a crap engine.

Ok so sounds like a cheap as chips rusty but complete £200 1.8 200sx is the way to go then which is cheaper than an uprated cosworth head gasket !!!!!!!!!!

They are a good engine from what ive heard, but most of the boys who come out drifting on a saturday night have lots of problems with head gaskets going. I guess it depends how its looked after at the end of the day

You could always try a volvo turbo lump, just go to north london, theres plenty of ovlov's there

850t5r engines, the 2.3 is better for get power out of than the later 2.5 i think m8.they are a bit of hassel to fit as well from what ive looked at.i have a t5r engine and box etc here

IF YOUR GOIN TO DO THIS DO NOT USE THE 1.8 ENGINE THEY'RE SHITE, THE BOTTOM END IS WEAK.FORK OUT THAT BIT MORE FOR THE SR20 ENGINE, IT CAN TAKE TUNING A LOT BETTER. MAKE SURE THE SR20 IS OUT OF A 200SX/SILVIA AND NOT A PULSAR GTI R THERES MEANT TO BE A FAIR DIFFERENCE IN THEM. GO FOR IT THOUGH BUT AS IT WAS ALREADY SAID THESE ENGINES ARE BEING SNAPPED UP FOR THE DRIFTING. HERE IN IRELAND THOSE ENGINES WILL FETCH 1500 EURO MINUS GEARBOX WIRING LOOM TURBO ETC..

Ok so rather than just buying an untried engine it's best to buy a complete S14 SR20 turbo 200sx instead then . That way you can use all the bits from the original car and flog the rest , plus you can also drive about in it whilst getting the host bodyshell stripped etc and check it's not knackered .

If you look on the link that spitbarnet posted up earlier (on page 1) there's a mk2 escort van with an SR20 turbo 200sx engine and box being fitted into it . It fits sweet and will be less work than a 5 pot volvo engine into a mk2 escort i presume .

Personally, when I was looking a couple of years ago for a solution to cheap power ( an honest 200bhp ) I went through the decisions between cosworth and nissan and in the end up I went for the 1.8 turbo 200sx engine...

I might be slightly biased now but for value for money I think this is the best option to go for. Standard you get a 15.3 quarter mile ( quicker than a standard cosworth ) and it makes 166bhp at the rear wheels.

Without spending a lot of money and not opening the engine up yet I have made 250bhp at the rear wheels, still a bit from full potential, and I have a reliable car that can be used when I want to and can be driven cheaply to and from events.

Roughly, the power, mods etc can be shown at this link...

So from me...the best option :D
