Copey Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 haha, all 4 wheels off the ground! love it!!
mk1super Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 This may seem a dumb question but why the SAS style face mask? Fire protection? or for smell of his on poo as he shat himself after that
meXEco Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Cool pic. re. the mask-i heard that the by-product of nitrous or methanol based fuels is tear gas-so sitting right behind the motor spewing out tear gas cant be fun...
X FLOW EDDY Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I love fuel altereds !!! That is a picture of Nanook from way back, it still runs in the states 2day at nostalger meatings with all the famous AA/FA cars from back in the day like Winged express, Rat trap, Panic, Pure hell and meny outhers. Fuel altereds are the crazeyest drag raceing beasts on the planit !! They run a solid rear end and a stupidley short wheel base, and on top of that they run nitro burning motors as well !! 2500-3000 hp in something with the wheel base of a skateboard is a reciepe for disaster. I have some jackson bros videos that i had imported from the states with them on, well worth the money As for the mask, a byproduct of burning methanol and nitro is nitric acid which stings your eyes and chest like hell !!! And if the motor blows you will be eating big block parts soaked in oil and on fire before you can say oh s##t !! And for the keen eyed amoung you, you will notice that nanook is still running a cast iron block not a alloy one as used by most people in AA/FA raceing 2day. All that horse power from a iron blocked motor, you have to have a death wish to sit behind that !!!!!!
hotrodholty Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 so thats where those bmx wheels went. And is it me or is he wearing a spray mask? cool as hell though the mask is because the car runs on nitrous oxide, which when burnt turns into tear gas, i only know this as i nearly cryed myself to death to death last year when smax fired up his nitro rail in a tent at shaky. nasty stuff to breath in
Doc Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 so thats where those bmx wheels went. And is it me or is he wearing a spray mask? cool as hell though thats proper old skool drag racing

V8ian Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 so thats where those bmx wheels went. And is it me or is he wearing a spray mask? cool as hell though the mask is because the car runs on nitrous oxide, which when burnt turns into tear gas, i only know this as i nearly cryed myself to death to death last year when smax fired up his nitro rail in a tent at shaky. nasty stuff to breath in No F/As never ran nitrous Oxide, they ran Nitromethne, which is only one chemical bond from NitroGlycirine, the by product of this is a form of Tear Gas which is not to good for the lungs. the mask and suit, which I can assure you he is waering shoulld be made of allumiinimsed Asbestos!!! and is in fact a Fire suit, as used by aircraft fire rescue crew, the more modern versions are alluminuised Nomex used in the nostalga meets today, the mask is more designed to be a flame trap and cooling aid so if the engine does blow, there is a chance you can still breathe, bearing in mind the fuel pumps will pump fuel thru a ruptured fuel line at least agallon per second, and quite easily more
hotrodholty Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Nitromethne, i stand corrected, i knew it was somethin like
Mick The Mig Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Mr Sam wrote "balls of steel" Very true, if the diff' lets go your sitting right on top of it. That'll make your eyes water as well.
