pinto or v6

right i have a corsair 1968 v4 and am looking to drop a new lump in with as little messing as possible so which way do i go pinto or v6 or has someone a better idea??

A corairs big and heavy with a large engine bay so i would use a V6/V8 engine myself

V6 shouldnt be too big a job to fix. But a healthy 302 V8 should do the trick just nicely.

Essex is the proper old skool swap on a Corsair and also the easiest as it's the same basic engine as the V4 but with 2 more cylinders.

 

If you want to stay with 4 cylinders then a Pinto would be my choice.

mate had one with all 3.0s running gear, went like stink roof was rotten so turnt it into a pick up from then on went every where side ways lol, seriously for a motor that size id go for a "v" of some sortjust for torque, 24v would be nice,

If you want a torquey motor (and one thats a bit period) I would go for the Essex, as someone else has said its basically the V4 with 2 more pots, if not then a pinto, at least its got an oval stamped on it

we had one with a 3.5 rover in it. went like fook, same wieght as a pinto, loads of cheap tuning parts, sounds the nutts and still proper old skool motor. cant go wrong at £100 for an engine and box
