Right my mate reckons his mk1 is due to be turned into a washing machine.

A few weeks ago he had the choice between a £120 fine or have his car impounded and pay £120 to get it back, all due to one of our forces finest having seen him sliding the arse end of his car about.

He paid the fine and carried on using his car, now he has heard on the grapevine that his car is "being looked out for" and will be taken off him and destroyed as they have footage of his driving on cctv.

Any ideas? I thought if the car was sold that would be the end of the matter?

Cheers

Sounds like nonsense to me, if they wanted to confiscate and crush it I'm sure they could work out where he lives rather than wait to see him in it

Sell it now and once it's somebody elses then it can't be confiscated for his actions in it.

buy another log book and change the plates - job done

cant see how the old bill could touch it though if he has paid the fine. best thing would be for me to give him 120 sheets in exchagnge for ho car 8)

Isnt it something to do with the new laws to stop the chav's and there antisocial driving habits, caught once your warned, stopped again for simillar bad driving and they take your car away from you :?

So in answer to your question of how to stop it getting crushed tell him to stop driving like a tit all the time :lol::lol:

Yea my Friends got a Paxo And go pulled for ragging it about. Made him go to court Payed £70 and car put on the blacklist so he is getting rid of it.

if the car is in his name why the hell would they be looking out for it and not just come round and impound it at the address it's registerd at :?

exactly its nonsense, i have been ragging this capri around hastings for about a year, yes i get pulled a lot, but they havent come round my house to taken it off me! anyway surely that would be a matter they would have to take to court first?

Its not nonsense, its to do with new anti social behaviour fines, I think the first warning stays on file for a year until it times out. The second time the car is destroyed.

The car is now not at the registered address. He had his first warning and then heard through someone else that there is a lot of video evidence of his car on record thru council cctv.

If it was my car, and I was in his position, I would not be driving round in 6k worth of escort in case it gets taken off me. I thought changing the owner would stop the seizure of the car but I would like to find out for sure. A change of v5 and plates would fix it though! :D

I find it hard to believe, even if the car isn't at the registered addresss, that somebody hasn't been there to impound the car if it's true it's 'been looked out for'. Have to agree with bortaf on this one, they wouldn't wait to catch it on the street, unless it's a case of finding you mate at the wheel. In which case, if the police spot the car with him in it, but with 'new' plates, he will be in even more trouble! If I was him, I would 'sell' it to his mum or summat, they can't take a 3rd party's property.

just was told by a good source that a car could be compounded and crushed if already there is evidence of this motor being driven dangerous

but if the car was kept of the public road the motor car could not be removed to be crushed ie in your drive or of highways not sure if this info may help

So why has there not been any steps to find the car? It's a long shot to just come across it on the road, I would have thought the first step would be to go to the reg'd address, to find if it was there. Like i said, if it wasn't owned by the person who was fined the law can't penalise a third party. IF this was true, it would be a risky business buying any used car! Even a bog standard mondeo can be driven dangerously.....

total big brother this but the law drive round devizes like loons on training and they are ok!now how long before rwd cars on snow are to be crushed ,bit mad eh? just let us know the plate so we dont buy it and get our ones crushed!!!!!!!!!!

you are refering to the section 59 that the sussex police so love to dish out here, ive had 5 of these! they dont destroy the car, they warn you, and if you get another one in a year they impound the car, charge you £105 to get it back and £12 per day.

IF you havent claimed it after 28 days it is destroyed. every time after the first warning they do the same, unless the years just rolled over then they give you a warning again.

trust me i speak from experience!
