Yep, they were the 1.4 litre cars. They also ran 1.7 litre turbocharged engines that had a power output of 700 odd bhp.

Awesome awesome machines... my favourites :D:D:D:D

Built for a purpose :gayfight:

awaits the abuse

No abuse, as you said, built for a purpose ... and they did it so well, infact chalking up more victories than those wide arched skinny wheeled skyhigh "crop sprayers" (a quote from the guy who built them) rally cars.

You know .. take a shell.. add some weld, stick some boxes in to hold a crude 4 link system .. add a cage and throw it at some trees ..

or take a shell and totally re-engineer it untill it can take on the works BMW team at their own championship and win ... and all done from Eric's shed..

or .... ' we have to run these engines for 8 hours a day ' .... best go back to the x-flow instead of the BDA for the London to mexico then ...

' we have to beat the BMWS for 12 hours ' .. best turbo a 1.4 BDA

or ... ' have you seen how much more grunt that Zakow.. Zakowishy.. Zakcow... The Germans are getting with injection ?' shall we copy them in 79?

"Ve needz mors power for '73" ... " ve vill einspirt dez engines to make zee power"

The only English cars that come close to being as good as the Zakspeed cars are the early Alan Mann and Broadspeed cars.. with torsion bar's and wishbone front suspensions.. i mean a Broadspeed1300gt car beating a Ford Boreham built works Rs1600 ... And then 10 years later with the '79 montes .. now those cars at least had some new things added.

Oh and Zakspeed still build cars, Boreham.. well .. R.I.P
