Had the same problem last week. Did a service for the MOT last week and found the halfshaft bearing had let oil past it - all over the brakes. Eventually got hold of a bearing and someone to press the old one off.

Just been for the MOT and it passed - whoooooooppppeeeeeeeeee!

Burtons gave me some BRT bearings for my mates atlas axle on his mk2, they had some weird oil ring seal around them. Ron at HT's said they were shit, so took them back and got Q&H ones, much better

Just normal escort/cortina etc english axle wheel bearings (so they fit inside the axle tubes !!!!!!!!! ) unlike the 3 sets the useless gits keep sending !!!!!!!! . My mates son went over into their stores and found ALL their stock of wheel bearings were the foooookin same EVEN though they are all in different part numbered boxes !!!!!!!!! . Cooooooooooooounts

Gaz part number ABK050 (automotive bearings) or the equivelant in SKF as these won't have the crap oil rubber ring, make sure they do the bearings for the english not the salisbury that is also listed for escorts on the same year
