Was it me or was there a lot more new school at CF Show this year.....? I can't remember that many newer plates in the fire up lane in previous years........ :?

I've noticed this, every year there is less and less classic fords and more modern stuff!!! I always find it a shame cuz there are so many great classic fords in the car parking field that never get seen!

thye need to get better policing on the gates, someone with the balls to tell them to park in another area, and let the classic fords have the main area. still let in the 3 doors and mk3 escorts etc as classic ford mag still class them as classic, just keep out the new fiesta's, focus's etc

It depends what you mean by modern stuff I guess.

I didn't see any Ka's, Pumas or Probes there and whilst we may have been the biggest showing there, it's Classic Ford show after all not Old Skool Ford show. Whilst we may not recognise Sierras, XR3's RS1600i's and other 80's dagenham metal as old skool, plenty of people (including CF) recognise them classics so I guess they have every right to be there. Personally it doesn't bother me in the slightest, Ford fair is a different matter though, I just won't drive all that way to see rows and rows of Mundaneos and identical Focus ST's on centre stage.

edit :woohoo: I found another swear word: RS1600i's

But they would still be parked in the public field even if the plastics wernt allowed in .. they chose not to be on a stand with one of the clubs,

Vitsa hit the nail on the head ..

It dosnt bother me what there to tell you the truth, if i dont want to look at something i'll walk by, nothing makes me stop and look at a brand new Focus ASBO except me, allthough I would stop and examine a Rouse built Mondeo .... 'bout time Ford went back into Touring cars, but that a different arguement

You walk past 50 women and 3 catch your eye... you dont ban all the others to outer mongolia do you ?

Also you need to think about invited clubs .. the RSOC for example .. anything with an RS tag can join in .. hence Focus RS's being there.

i know what u mean there was alot of plastic there  thought it was classic ford not nearly new focuses and ka's spose these are classics now
The more plastic on the strip the better as they are easier to spank compared to the oldskoolfords with pintos in

this is true but I have always felt there should be a section for osf to park together if the owners wish so we can see them. Not everyone is a member of a club.

My mates son who is 15 bought a MK2 Escort a few days before the show, now he's not into car clubs or computers yet and obviously is too young to drive, but he's keen on Old Fords.

He got his dad to drive it from Shropshire and it took them about 3 hours only to be told when they got there they couldn't bring the car in. He was obviously dissapointed but to cap it all somebody in a 4WD reversed into it and put a nice scrape and dent on the rear 1/4.

It has a custom pearl orange paint job so won't be an easy repair and if it had been allowed in probably wouldn't have happened.

That's bad luck Darren  . They should let all the cars park up together weither they're in a club or not because the place is huge after all . They should section off the place into 1960's - 1980's , 1980's - 2000 etc etc or something

I gotta admit I was suprised and a little disappointed at the amount of modern stuff there this year, although they are not my cup of tea I understand that mk3 Escorts and mk1 Fiestas are now coming of age and therefore eligable but none the less I thought it was a "Classic Ford" show!! and since when have 53 plate Ka`s been classics?? not to mention the mundanoes, focuses and late model escorts and fiestas, after all I thought that was what "fORD fAIR" was for and why the "Classic Ford show was started?? the final insult was that after the loss of 1/4 mile action time due to the weather (nobody`s fault) but when the RWYB action finally got under way the fire up lane was heavily laden with modern durge...fine if time and numbers allow but out of order if...as was the case some didnt get the chance to do their 3 runs they had payed for, I think the boundaries of what constitutes a "Classic Ford" needs to be determined for future shows otherwise I think there will be an increasing trend of more modern stuff pushing the true Classic Fords out until it will become just another Ford Fair but centered around the 1/4 mile as opposed to the circuit  maybe there should be a rule of only Ford models that were first in production before 1982 or such in place??

Agree, many Pumas also in attendance ….

In addition to your observation on loss of 1/4 mile action due to the weather they also ran Show (drag) Cars 5 minutes after 1/4 mile play was resumed - this hacked me off that it was done so quickly as I can see these cars on any Sunday (CF show comes but once a year). I wasn’t the only one felt like this, all of the drivers in the fire up lane I spoke to felt the same (naturally) and I understand there was a collective sigh in the stands as well.

That argument only works for when you're walking round a supermarket.

But if you were at a beauty contest then you would have something so say. And you wouldnt let blokes into a Miss World show.

There's no difference in my mind.

A classic ford show is for classic fords.

Miss World is for Decent Women!

In all seriousness, it may be about filling the place, breaking even, cost effectiveness, understandably making profit, etc...

However, I would like to hear CF's comments on this because the difference over previous years was clear.

I'm not really too worried on CF take on RS 1600 i's or 3 doors and similar period because I do subscribe to the mag and understand the ethics on this, it's more the KA's, Pumas, Focus's, etc...

Over to you guys... :wink::thumbsup:

Cheers
