Savvi Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Copied this off another forum, it's caused quite a stir amounst the boy racers, anyone know about it ? on the 303 this morning a transit van sticked up like a ford motor sport vehicle and sounded like 300 motor bikes inside my ear literally blew me away like nothing i have seen before. this was serious power in this thing i was doing about 40 and floored it and my car isnt exactly slow as i was at a very high speed pretty rapidly and this transit van was wheel spinning and putting black lines down in front of me at around 70mph on its gear change and than vanished it must have been to 150plus before it went out of sight. it must have pulled half a mile on me in 20 seconds
zetecmk2 Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 sounds like supervan 3!!! maybe going to a show somewhere?
martymk1 Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 sounds like supervan 3!!! maybe going to a show somewhere? surely that can't be road legal
BaileyMex Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 If it's this one, I've driven it, the official World Rally Transit, not that fast off the lights but fast once going
Copey Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 just found this http://www.nsva.co.uk/ford_supervan_page.htm
zetecmk2 Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 kept me quiet for 1/4 of an hour, reading that!!

Copey Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Yeah,Supervan 1 is uber cool I started a thread last year wanting to know what actually became of Supervan 1,but know body seem's know for sure that article says ford have lost track of it too, which is a shame, hope its not dead!
Ade B Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 There used to be a YB Mk3 Minibus up my way a few years ago, was very quick until aerodynamics got the better of it!
bronze4door Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 have a looksy here http://www.chorleystreetgarage.co.uk/PI ... LLERY.html the blue en is cossied and tuned to the hilt
FredTransit Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 No, it was a genuine Mk1 transit steel body shell with a mid mounted 302 V8. Sadly legend has it it's been scrapped, yet others say it's still in a shed somewhere.
escortmad79 Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Wasn't Supervan1 stripped for the engine & other bits to go one Supervan2?
FredTransit Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Wouldn't surprise me, they butchered supervan 2 to make supervan 3 !
bigglesmk2 Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 I believe Supervan 2 was a complete new build at the time and was in the end turned into Supervan 3. Supervan 1 still made afew apperances after Supervan 2 was built. So im told .Would love to know what became of Supervan 1 ,chances are it's long gone
FredTransit Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Yeah, so did I, look closely at supervan 3 and you will see it's the same windscreen and back door, erm infact the bits in between are the same, just made to look different......
4parajon Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 I was gonna mention the Chorley Street Trannie as well, sposed to be rapid. There's a few fast transits if you look on you tube. There's a lovely cossie powered Bedford CF van on TS with about 600bhp
