FredTransit Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Whats a steel type 9 bellhouse worth? lol More as a part than scrap, surely?
2.8i Cossie Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 best thing to do is to ring up the local scrappies and ask them what they are sitting at at the minute. We do it all the time here to make sure its worth scrapping!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 I have just got back from slinging a few bit's in the Iron. I had 3 scrap Pre Crossflow blocks (revenge is sweet) a couple of bit's of cast Aluminium, a few bit's of steel. Altogether it weighed in at a shade under a quarter of a ton and I got £24 for it. On the print out it says light Iron etc. is £100 a ton
mk1super Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Whats a steel type 9 bellhouse worth? lol More as a part than scrap, surely? You wanna buy it
FredTransit Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Er no, the type9 in the transit was crap. I am sure somebody might want it though.
Rick Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 save all your copper/brass until the prices pick up again (if they ever do)
Cookie Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 save all your copper/brass until the prices pick up again (if they ever do) Not for a long time, I been told by folk in the know that alloy, copper, bras etc will stay about what it is now for a good few years, Last year when prices went sky high on everything was same as banks problems, all artificially pushed up beyond it's true worth, so now we are back floating about at normal prices. The processor I sell my cats to reckons cats won't go back up to anywhere near what they were scrapping at, and will take 2/3 years to go up to a decent figure, I was getting £72 for a full original cat, for a big un up to £120 now on £22 for a full original, so you can see the drop on that. Scrap has'nt got the money in it it had last year, but on the other hand there's not every man and their dog weighing in now, can go into yard straight onto bridge and out, last summer it was takig 30-40 mins queing to get on and off bridge.
FredTransit Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 I hope it doesn't get as high as it did last year, less cars and vans will get stolen. Also, it will in turn keep down the cost of donors, though you always get some git with a long memory saying a car's worth £400 scrap, so that's what he wants for it., even if you could take it away with a dust pan and brush!
Rick Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 you cant beat cash for scrap though the rag and bone man made the lanes clean of old wheels and appliances. we could make a few bucks recycling all our metals/. personally i think the council should pay us to recycle all the time. and i mean cans, cardboard plastics everything, knock it off my council tax!
RS2kSX Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 just done a lead run to the scrappy, 86Kg £24.00
bortaf Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 £75 in London China are in a downturn at the mo and just aint buying fragged steel in the quantity they were last summer hense the lower price at the mo, it really all depends on when their econonmy picks up as to wether the price of light iron goes back up or not. Non ferrous is pretty constant and not affected by chinas buying habbits as much so this site is pretty much spot on i find http://www.letsrecycle.com/prices/metalsPrices.jsp
