Oops my finger slipped

Up until now my plans were to put a 1600 Xflow in my escort, but recently the words "2 litre" and "Pinto" have been fluttering around my mind...so earlier this evening I was doing my usual browsing of ebay, came across an auction that had 30 secs left, and just put a bid on for the hell of it...turns out I won... What do you think? Have I made a mistake???

I was actually wtaching that one, but then remembered I have my old engine at a M8's house, so that will be winding it's way to Colin's for a bottom end rebuild although he doen't know it yet

Not sure what type of box it is... It all came out of a kit car apparently. Can anyone in the know tell me anything about the upgrade to pinto? The car I'm restoring is a mk2 escort 1.3... I have a 1.6 xflow and was planning to just use all the same bits and just stick the 1.6 in (apparently this is a very simple conversion), but i'm guessing it's more tricky with the pinto... I know you need different front suspension springs... and that's about all I know...

I think you need the RS alloy mounts to fit it to a standard x-member and if its a different box to the original you'll need a different prop shaft and I think a few wires need changing and the exhaust runs down the otherside (so brackets need to be moved) and the fuel lines need to be moved to the otherside of the bay, the sump needs to be an RS alloy one or a modified steel one to clear the x-member.

 

there are some other things that I can't remeber off the top of my head but I'm sure some one else will mention them
