Retro-gone. Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 as you know i was made redundant 2 weeks ago, well im now back doing what i love, mobile caravan repairs, altho only temporary but may lead to full time bit of a drastic circumstance tho, my mate is self employed repairing caravans but unfortunately he chopped 2 fingers off last week and had them reattached, so untill they heal he has employed me on the books to do the work, its £2.50 per hour more than my old job too!! and i get to use his lovely new van . wifes been at me to sign on but im so glad i didnt just shows you that you never know whats coming round the corner, on the downside tho ive just took 4 resprays in so im having to work nights too , but im not complaining about the money one minute your down and pissed off and the next youre back in the game , life can be so fokin strange at times.
Admin Vista Posted June 5, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 5, 2009 wifes been at me to sign on but im so glad i didnt Congratulations on the job Tony Mrs RG is right though, you should have signed on for those two weeks as it's money you're entitled to having contributed through taxes all your working life. It also ensures you have no break in NI contributions towards your state pension.
Savvi Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Real pleased to hear that Tony, just keep the work coming in you never know when you need the extra money as you have found out the last couple of weeks. I guess you won't have time to pop down to see us now then !!!!!
Stu_B Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 wifes been at me to sign on but im so glad i didnt Mrs RG is right though, you should have signed on for those two weeks as it's money you're entitled to having contributed through taxes all your working life. It also ensures you have no break in NI contributions towards your state pension. I was unemployed in Cornwall for a year, I lived with a girlfriend (who was loaded) and didn't bother to sign on. When I finally got a job I had to pay loads of money to make up for not paying into the NI I did get some shiny new front teeth FOC from the NHS though after falling off my bike
