X-pack-Glyn Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Bought and not built!huxleys mk1 escort estate! which most of you would probably love to own! Not me...im building my own mk1 estate!
BIGKEV Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 I love this thread - clearly a few noses put out of joint
brettp Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 dont worry about the sticker i had a kid pissing over a cosworth badge on mine any one with a functioning brain would take it as its meant that v8 s are a far superior engine it s a bit of fun people support different football teams but they all like football at the end of the day that said they have been known to stab each other perhaps we should close ranks and invade the next renault 5 meeting at santa pod
Twinkle Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 The phrase "built not bought" is insulting to the people that have paid a body shop or engine builder or fabricator etc cos it seems the "builders" are smirking. not as insulting as what you went on to say about home built. Its just another word for 'budget' or in some cases 'bad taste', sometimes even the word bodge springs to mind. chequer plate is my favorite 'built' car component. sorry some of us cant afford to heve cars built for us and have to drvie around in bodged, unsafe, unroadworthy piles of rusty shite that clearly never get maintained or have to have the same mot test every year as a bought car
over_head_cam Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Now now ladies, let's not get into a 'tit for tat' argument Did you see that. i said tit
Twinkle Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 just excercising my right to answer back in the same style as sambo phil or are we going one sided on this?
over_head_cam Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 No m8 and to fair I can't believe you'd suggest that I would do that. I think both arguments have some credibility. But ultimately, I don't want people to get spiteful or urgue for the sake of an opinion. All our OSFs are tip tiop, whether they have been built the way we would like or not. I know there has been a suggestion that somehow cars that have been built by non proffessionals are shit, but there have also been suggestions that cars not built by their owners are somehow not owned and driven with the same passion. If I could sum it up in one sentence (big task) I'd say... ...Old Skool Fords Rule. End
surrey_100e Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 All i asked was if you built your car or bought it i built mine in the garage
caprinerd Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 mine is built well half built as its not on the road yet so far we have: cheating (stripped out with nos) and standard ish without nos 4door and 2 door built and bought have i missed any? so what is the next thing they can throw at us? Think there's a couple more mate : Pinto v Xflow 13's, 15's or puff daddies Old skool, new skool Duratec or N/A YB Jap & Vauxhall or Ford MKI or MKII And there's probably a couple more... But I wouldn't take any of them to heart TBH........... you missed my av argument why dont the mk2fiesta or the mk3escort get allowed on this forum
over_head_cam Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 you missed my av argumentwhy dont the mk2fiesta or the mk3escort get allowed on this forum Because the Boss says so
sambo Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 The phrase "built not bought" is insulting to the people that have paid a body shop or engine builder or fabricator etc cos it seems the "builders" are smirking. not as insulting as what you went on to say about home built. I know what i said was a bit strong and certainly doesnt apply to most people. I have built my car on a budget, on my drive with me old man. Some might not think so but like i say, only some of the parts are professionally done. Its a bit like "his cars nice, bet he paid some people to do build it for him, rich fooker" and thats what i think gets peoples back up about this whole phrase. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your efforts and what you have done on your budget and the bad taste thing was out of line. (but you gotta admit, there are some ruined OSF's out there that are victims of bad taste!) Anyway i've said what i wanted to say on the subject and i hope some people can undestand why people can feel a little annoyed at the phrase "built not bought". ?
over_head_cam Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 NOBODY CARES. You cared enough to post
antz Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 NOBODY CARES. You cared enough to post actually i skipped straigh to this page and posted that. I just wanted to feel noticed in a good way for once
BIG G Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 But the thing that upsets me the most is seeing a supposed pro built car and thinking shiiiiiiiiiiit this poor fooker paid for this and we have all seen this before and ive fixed a few
zetecmk2 Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 the best example of a "built" car is being built out of wood, north of here!!!
over_head_cam Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 But the wooden engine wooden work
Andrade Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 But the wooden engine wooden work When it did start news about it spread like wild fire
evil knievel Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Whittled not bought Mines not bought, built or whittled. In fact it just sits there wondering why there is 9 pages of people ultimately coming to the same conclusion and arguing about it. Questioning the point of its existance. You lot have depressed the Evilmobile. I hope you're happy.
