I cant see what difference it makes whether a car is "built or brought", some people have the time, space and skills to build a car, some dont and want to drive an old Ford.

I personally wouldn't buy one already built, mainly because having 2 kids, another on the way and a load of other interests I'm on a budget so I get to look at a pile of bits and do a bit when I can, learning new skills along the way and getting help from mates where your not sure (then helping them the other way) is what counts in my book, its more fun overcoming problems and getting things working, but then I would say that because thats what I know

If I had the money to get one built I probably wouldn't because I'm too tight anyway

Ok after reading all this!!!!

The way i look at u aint gana be everything, u cant be a engine builder, painter, welder, fabricator, and all the other sh*t

Im a mechanic, so yer i done alot of my stuff on my car, but i sent it away to get painted cause if i tryed it would be a shambles i no how to build and fook around with engines and fit them and wat so eva, but im no painter.

We do work for loads of people on here, who can do some things and not others

Dont matter if you build it yourself or do half of it and get someone to do the bits u dont no how to do, i.e build a engine, get the car painted and so on.

ALL THAT MATTERS IS THAT YOUR HAPPY WITH THE CAR :thumbsup::thumbsup:

one of the first things people ask me when they see my car is how much does that owe you m8 ? :?

are they asking because the wish to build something similar

or because they are thinking im a chequebook charlie

i have a giggle inside to myself because

my car did cost me alot of money BUT

over 9 years !

so when i break it down per year its not so bad

i did virtualy everything myself and payed for wiring and tuning

but everyone is entieled to there opinion

JUST ENJOY DRIVING AND OWNING THE DAM THINGS OSFs RULL !

If I had the money I'd have the best of both worlds. 8)

Pro built everything & I'd lend a hand when possible to gain some experience.

I've built a fair few over the years but I do not have the skills to build my dream Mk2 Escort so when I win the lottery or my boat comes in, Gary will get a call for the linking/cage axle install & suspension set up, Wayne get's a call for a 400bhp cossie turbo & whoever painted KJ's car will ger a call for a spot of the old Diamond white

Building said dream car will no doubt cost 30k ish and if you wanna come up to me at a show or drag meet & say it's shite coz I didn't build it.......

Like I'd be bothered

Lead foot painted KJs Escort :ykt:

Mine is BUILT and i'm fookin proud of it co's i have learnt a lot of new skills along the way, met a lot of nice people because of it, and i quite like freezin me tits off in a garage in the middle of January! (not) However, if money was no object then yes, i would have been quite happy to have paid £2500 for a mint paint job rather than polishing my not so good DIY paint job. After a 6 year restoration still ongoing to this day, all i know is i would rather be driving the thing now than having to scrimp and save, piss the missus off cos i have just blown another few hundred quid on 'a rusty piece of metal' (her words). There is a certain amount of pride when some old biddy asks you 'did you restore that yourself' but all respect must go to the professional restorers for the quality of work most of them knock out...Paid Roy Nunn a visit the other week, some guy was paying him £15,000 to rebuild the front end of his Mk2 RS2000, after he had already forked out £7000 for some other cowboy to have already supposedly done it  Built or bought, i dont think it really matters, its just nice to be out and about driving something that most other people admire and havn't got...Unless you advertise the fact with a sticker on the back of your car, who knows and who cares?
