Rick Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 was chattin to a lad at work telling him about my project and whatnot when he comes out with the statement: 'why spend all that time and money on an old car, why dont you just buy a new one?' i tried to explain it but he just thought it was funny.... some people just dont appreciate the superior styling of the old cars do they? maybe i just have bad taste??? when its done il park it next to his crappy (nightclub on wheels) golf and wel see what he thinks then aghhh
RFChris Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=31921 Fook him. Old Fords, or any old car for that matter, rock! And if he says anything again simply reply with "Ere, mate, your mum rang, she wants her car back" Chris
Admin Vista Posted December 30, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 30, 2006 Perhaps an obvious point that they all miss is that new cars depreciate terribly. Old Skool Fords however don't, look after it well and you'll likely get more than your money back!
LUKE261 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 you never loose money on an osf, you can drive a new un out the showroom n loose 3 grand straight away
Guest richc Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 i have had a few of my friends moaning about the same thing but ive turned them into OSF lovers...they can never resist the fords
LUKE261 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 i must b quite lucky ive never had many negative comments 90% have been positive
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 I have been there mate so many times, and I still get some stick from friends Out of everyone I know including family, I own the oldest cars but I don't care. Just tell him to type in Mk1 Escort on eBay and he will see the value in them and the following they have. It is obvious that he just can't afford one, therefore he is jealous of yours. Not to mention older cars can be right bird pullers. Anglia's and Mini's are considered "cute" by members of the opposite sex. I don't know where they stand on Mk1 Escorts as my mate has a Mini, and I have an Anglia Tell him to get stuffed and then tell him what Chris said
Pipster007 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 my mate has a Mini, and I have an Anglia Does that mean, you find each other cute then
happysnappy Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Dont people realise that their "new" car could well have been damaged and repaired before it has left the showroom I worked as a salesman in some main dealers and could probably write a book on the subject Why do you think salesmen used to love it when it rained on the 1st of August, hide the scratsh, chip, dent etc
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 It's official , NEW CARS ARE SHIT !!!!!!! , they depricate fast , cost a bomb to run , you can't fix them yourself , they're all poxy silver and they ALL look CRAP next to my MK1 escort !!!!!!

Apparently I can have a new Fiesta for what it's costing me to have my MK1 Escy restored. Lovely Dave
Deano1351 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 What about the corsa boys who justify spending 8 grand on a 1 litre corsa because wait for it........ they get free insurance, hang on, 8 grand coz of free insurance, something just dont add up there to me
minim4rt Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 I sold my mk1 to get a brand new mini. Werst mistake ever but 3 years on and iv fourd the escort and baut it bk. I agree that osf dont loose value. I sold it for £1100 and just payed £4500 to get it back.

Which voids the insurance....
Deano1351 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 I had the great pleasure in absolutley wasting one earlier on today, and do you know what i did???? Slowed down, let him catch up and wasted him again, not only do they look sh*t, there slow!!
novanut64 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 a few years back i had a 2ltr/5speed mk1 escort as my daily driver. on one of the rare occasions it let me down and i borrowed the wifes new astra with aircon heated everything nice stereo good mpg i too questioned why i was driving such an old car daily that is until the next day with the problem sorted and driving it again. its just so much of a phucing buzz
