He was proper miffed after 4 hours.....

Cost me a good round of drinks too......

I took the doors off my anglia a few weeks ago, first took the door off, then tried unbolting the hinges. the inner pillar set of bolts seemed to have an endless thread, then i realised that the bracket inside the wheel arch that holds the thread in place rusted off so it was just turning around all over the place

I'm feeling your pain. Tried doing mine on the Capri recently (using a removal tool) Shifted it a few mm.

Now I've plugged up the bottom holes in each hinge and I've got them sat soaking in WD40. Gonna have another go this weekend.

The question for me is "How am I going to get new pins in?"

I was thinking that there must be a bolt with a long blank shank that is the right size :?:?

I got one out!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo:

I'm convinced now that the method (for stubborn pins) is....:

1) WD40

2) A good clean out/scrape with a stiff bit of wire

3) More WD40

4) A couple of whacks to shock/loosen it

5) Bung it up at the bottom

6) Fill with WD40

7 Leave 2 days

8 ) Fill with WD40

9) Leave 2 days

10) Whack it out

Got an M8 bolt in there nowand got the other pin bunged up and full of WD40.

Guys i know what you are all saying my first car was a little fiesta it needed a full respray had to take both front doors off i was an apprentice mechanic at the time got told try a bit of heat got one side off the other side i had to cut both the fooking hinges off and weld them back on. But now i must say use a bit of heat but not to much.

I might be missing something here but why not just unbolt the doors ?? About 6 bolts and about 5 minutes and there off ?? :?

Are Escorts different to Fiestas ?

I must admit if I was respraying the car I'd probably do exactly that, but for me personally, I was just seeking to replace the worn pins, so had to get them out anyhow. I figured the effort removing the pins was equal to the effort of rehanging the doors.

I found that it was easier to get the pins moving with an appropriately sized coachbolt and a hammer, rather than the removal tool.
