Skoty Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 a bloke my dad know told him that hes been asked to clear an old ladys garage out and she said there was a old escort in there, her husband passed away 16 years ago and it was left in there, they where gorna scrap it if i dint want it. so i thought great theres a few bits i need for mine so ill have it for bits, me and dad went to look to see what escort it was but we couldnt get in the garage properly as only half the door would open but we could see it was a 4dr mk2. so we said we'll have it for bits they said the scrap guy would give them £40 so we said we'll give them £50 thinking it was a rotting heap. we went there friday to go pick it up, we managed to get both the doors open and had a look at it it looked pretty tidy so we dragged it out and where astonished, it was mint bar a couple of bits of surface rust and the boot lids totally had it. heres some pics. im well excited. this is where she'd been hiding for 16 years i dint get a pic of when we first opened it. (i was too excited) we tryed getting her going but she hasnt got a spark i think its the coil. this is the only bad part on the body im just gorna respray it and put my 1600 out of my other escort in it and my dads having my blue one to put a pinto in. its the colour one i wanted originally and after a closer inspection we found that its had no previous welding before. i feel soo lucky coz nothing good like this ever happens to me, so im waiting for something super bad to happen.
bazpro Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 looks decent. wish i could find something like that
trakevlyn Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 result looking at the boot lid you found it just in time before it filled up with water
mk2dk Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Congratulation on your find Looks like a very solid car, and only 50£, you're a lucky man. Was a simular story that lead me to my silver mk2, I'm so glad I followed up on that - bet you feel the same way. One more saved from the scrabby.
4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 great find and a good bit of luck too! looks a great shell!!
BaileyMex Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Nice work Fancy doubling your money and selling it to me for £100 I wish
GJUK Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 That must be cool finding an old car in a shed, 'lost' for 16 years. The car itself though does nothing for me. I'm sure you'll make quite a bit of money off it though, 4 doors are going to a lot these days.
2litreScapri Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Excellent after 16 years storage, that's going to look sweet once you've worked on it
GT_lenny Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 i'm always amazed how these cars just keep turning up- i'm about due some good look - fingers crossed that next demolition jobwill turn up a mint barn find
sampedlar06 Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 fancy lending me some of your luck this year has been the worst so far think i need to start looking in scabby old sheds lol
In The Pit Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I love stories like this, the shed doesnt look that weather proof so lucky its in such good condition. A late car and looks good, I can see why you wanted one in beige as I have one in the same colour and it will so get you noticed as no modern cars are beige anymore. Was the lady pleased it found a home with someone who will restore it rather than the scrapman?
FredTransit Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Lucky twice over, I am amazed the shed didn't fall in on it!
