Been reading more & more about local derilict buildings & was intrigued by one a few miles away. Sandhill park hospital, it's a manor house built in the 1700's & lived in untill ww1 when it became a POW site for German & Austrian officers. In 1919 it was converted to a home for handicapped children by the local council. In ww2 the military took it back over as a hospital & many new buildings were built as wards. It was changed back to a hospital for handicapped children until the early 90's when it was closed down.

On sunday a couple of friends & I decided to go & have a look around

Dont they have a 12 year rule type thing, i remember a few years ago a squatter had legal rights over the building she had been living in, as it had been 12 yrs since the owner had been in contact.

This building was in the centre of london and was worth a fortune, local residents tried to stop it, but it still past into her ownership. I could be wrong but then again i could be right.

I used to wander round old empty factories when i was a kid, thought i was a bit wierd.

Now i see there's a forum for it!

I could do this again.

What would happen if you wanted to buy an old building like this? I can't help but feel some of these places would make great workshops and garages.

Happened a few times, I know of the one in London & one in Edinburgh.

The one in Edinburgh managed to claim the building after living there for so long & then sold it for over a million!!

Yeah when I went someone had been in the main building & set the alarm off already so I thought 'fook it' went in & had a quick look around! Gonna go back & get down into the morgue.

Theres a few big old houses around where I live. Been in most of them. One had ww2 gas mask boxes in the attic rooms. It,s quite sad to see them in a derilict state
