1990 Ford Escort RS1800i

Hi guys,

A friend of mine tells me that he has been offered an 1990 Ford Escort RS1800i.Is this a rare model as I cannot find any info on this particular model on the net.Seemingly its a two door genuine RS1800i with air vents in the bonnet,front wings and quarter panels.Hope to pick it up this weekend,cant wait to see it.Thanks for any info.

Hi mate. We don't really deal with mk3/4 escorts on here but I can't say I've personally heard of an 1800i.

Badge engineering, my brother had an Escort Mexico MK5 just a normal 1.8 escort with afew stickers.

 

MK5 RS2000 yes.

 

Everything else was just rebadged mainstream toot.

Well thats got me confused. Are you 100% sure your mate doesn't mean an RS1600i? If its and RS1600i, then its quite a rare and a pretty desirable model. Have a look on the RS owners club website or Alcoholics Anonymous (as this forum is for the older generation of fords), you should be able to find all the info you need on those sites. Sorry I can't be more of a help but I hope thats enogh to get you started.

there was one around here years ago a coloured women owned it there was only a few around.

I was going by what Jeremy Walton had stated Rs1700t a project that never was.

 

There were rumours a few had been sold off to the public, but rare as hens teeth apparently.

Had a few of them on the continend togheter with the RS2000. specs the same lesser engine. Was a limited Formula 1 edition too.

It had the Zetec 1.8 115 bhp in it.

there was also one in one of the mags years ago probley in the loft but i won't be looking for it
