GT Tonry Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 Hi guys, A friend of mine tells me that he has been offered an 1990 Ford Escort RS1800i.Is this a rare model as I cannot find any info on this particular model on the net.Seemingly its a two door genuine RS1800i with air vents in the bonnet, front wings and quarter panels.Hope to pick it up this weekend, cant wait to see it.Thanks for any info.
evil knievel Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Hi mate. We don't really deal with mk3/4 escorts on here but I can't say I've personally heard of an 1800i. I've heard of a 1600i though! Forgive me for any ignorance that I'm showing!!
Stiggy Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Badge engineering, my brother had an Escort Mexico MK5 just a normal 1.8 escort with afew stickers. MK5 RS2000 yes. Everything else was just rebadged mainstream toot.
gjh Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Well thats got me confused. Are you 100% sure your mate doesn't mean an RS1600i? If its and RS1600i, then its quite a rare and a pretty desirable model. Have a look on the RS owners club website or Alcoholics Anonymous (as this forum is for the older generation of fords), you should be able to find all the info you need on those sites. Sorry I can't be more of a help but I hope thats enogh to get you started.
Admin Vista Posted June 16, 2011 Admin Report Posted June 16, 2011 To my knowledge there's no such thing as an Escort RS1800i, are you sure he doesn't mean a Fiesta RS1800i?

Stiggy Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 I was going by what Jeremy Walton had stated Rs1700t a project that never was. There were rumours a few had been sold off to the public, but rare as hens teeth apparently.
JP. Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 To my knowledge there's no such thing as an Escort RS1800i, are you sure he doesn't mean a Fiesta RS1800i? Well your knowledge needs to be upgraded then. Had a few of them on the continend togheter with the RS2000. specs the same lesser engine. Was a limited Formula 1 edition too. It had the Zetec 1.8 115 bhp in it.

OK, I'll rephrase as it's difficult to speak for a global market when we're mainly catering for UK models on here: To my knowledge http://in the UK there was no such thing as an Escort RS1800i, are you sure he doesn't mean a Fiesta RS1800i?
