Cookie Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Use the grinder on them but get loads of old towels/rags etc make them soaking wet and cover tank and all pipes etc with them
Jelly Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Had exactly the same problem, I just drilled it out taking breaks every 30 seconds of drilling or so to avoid excessive heat build up.
Admin Vista Posted January 30, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 30, 2007 If you can get it on, use a nut splitter, it'll break the nut vertically along its length and it's then easy to remove.

It just fits around the outside of the nut and tightens a Chisel tyoe edge vertically along the flank of the nut until it shears. you can get manual or hydraulic ones. Manual are obviously cheaper and consist of the chisel blade on the end of a screw thread.
flyingbanana Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 what vista says...there are different type sizes you can get
Jelly Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Or if you don't have money coming out of your arse, just get a smaller socket (eg 16mm bolt, use a 15mm socket) and hammer the fecker on to the nut, and voila, instant fix! Getting the nut out at the end can prove tricky however..

Seriously though a nut splitter shouldn't cost more than a tenner (I think) and it's a useful tool to have around.
Slik 50 Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Snap on and irvin do a tool for removing roundr nuts and locking wheelnuts ect. It looks like a normall socket but instead of the hex fitting inside its like a clockwise spiral of 6 grooves that once tapped on to the nut when you turn the wratchet anti clockwise it bites into the nut to make removal easyer if that makes sense Here you are look at this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IRWIN-5-Piece-Bol ... dZViewItem
