mk1mexico Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Escort-mk1-ORIGIN ... dZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Escort-mk1-ORIGIN ... dZViewItem Ok im havin an email or two from this guy because i told him his auctions were incorrect. I told him one of his auctions are laser wheels the other is mk2 rs wheels and he wont have none of it. So im posting it on here to get some back up then ill email him the link
capriclive Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 the black pair are not rs as the spoke thickness and around the wheel nut holes are too thick.these are capri laser alloys. blue pair are thinner and could be rs alloys. also he put condition as new as he reckons theyve been powder coated! how does that make them new? looks more like theyve just been painted
mk1mexico Posted September 21, 2006 Author Report Posted September 21, 2006 yeah the others are RS wheels, but mk2 wheels, mk1 are quite different
jay Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 i reakon the top ones are capri, and the bottom are rs2........
arch Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 few blemmishes my arse the black 1s havant been powder coated at at al
Martin B Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 He says they are 6x13, all Mk1 rs alloys (except the ultra rare group1 alloys) were 5.5x13. Martin
escortmad79 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 What Martin said. The black ones are Capri Laser (Webs around nuts & the spokes are thicker than the 6" RS alloys) The blue ones are RS alloys (Webs are thinner as are the spokes). Genuine RS alloys are flat faced seats for the nuts whereas Capri Laser ones are tapered & use tapered nuts to secure. Can't remember which way around it is, can't find the Classic Ford with the wheel guide but one are stamped 6Jx13 & the others are stamped 13x6J
Admin Vista Posted September 22, 2006 Admin Report Posted September 22, 2006 Another easy slip to make with mk1 RS wheels (I know I made it ) is to buy what on the face of it appears identical, they're 5 1/2J 13" with flat washer nuts and a very similar part number, but the hole in the centre is smaller and they are in fact Mk2 JPS capri wheels. Part number for mk1 wheels is H71AB 1007AC whereas the capri rims will have a similar number as follows H71AB 1007AC-C The mk1 wheel has a hole of 70mm in the centre whereas the capri rimk is only about 63mm. Standard Mk2 rims are all 6J x 13" and also have a smaller centre hole. Hope this helps. P.S. Just had a look at the links, it was me who queried the part numbers on both of his sets of wheels and definitely neither pair are mk1.
Gareth Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I'm no wheel expert but I can see that the top ones are lazer wheels, who does he think he's kidding
tim Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 good to see am not the only 1 who have a good at people via ebay
erick Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I agree that these wheels are not the early, RS rims I hope no one gets conned into buying them. Just had a look for the part number of my RS rims, they have the domed steel centre caps with 71 on the inside of the wheel, not 100% sure on mine if they the first mk1 rims.
Fiesta Steve Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 He's trying to make a quick buck. The more people that see this post the better. Hope no one gets ripped off
