skeeter Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 I headed off for a drive around this morning while it was sunny but while I was out it started to rain. Do you know what? The car still worked!! I have been avoiding taking out in the rain as I had some half baked thought that it would rust before my eyes or break down, what a pleasant surprise. Things I noticed in the rain; - The brakes are even less effective than in the dry - The windscreen mists up and switching the blower on seems to just shoot bits of leaves and twigs into my face - I accidentally drove with the headlights on main beam instead of dipped, nobody flashed at me so I guess they just aren't that bright - I miss intermittent wipe The lack of ASR, TCS, EBD, ABS, EDC etc didn't make me skid off the road into a ditch, something I was half expecting. Anyway, home now, the car is drying on the drive way, on the way home I called in at the local supermarket to stock up for when Mrs S gets home tonight so snapped a couple of pictures in the car park.
katana Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 It maybe drying now...................................................by the morning it'll be a rusty spot on the drive! LOL
Kevin Mk2 Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Do you feel comfortable leaving it parked at the supermarket? I've come out from Tesco, shopping in hand, more than once to find fresh dents and scuffs on my everyday car. It's even happened while I was sitting in the car eating a sandwich, the person who bumped me just waved then drove off!
mexicansteve Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 I agree with the intermittent wiper thing, really annoying, I drive my '74 Capri all year round and can't afford a garage so everything else is just par for the course, but those bloody wipers...

As you can see, there was nothing else really there, and it was Waitrose not Tesco S

MK2Ed Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 As you can see, there was nothing else really there, and it was Waitrose not Tesco S Ah, a better class of dent, makes all the difference... Nice car and good write up
SmokeEm Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 ah at last... We've finally found the person that can afford to shop at Waitrose!! lol. Nice one fella, lovely car and good to see you haven't ditched it!
welshmike Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Very nice car bud I use my Mk1 Capri everyday, whatever the weather and i get a bit excited when i get up and its been raining, means i get to do skids on the way to work
dacar Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Very nice car bud! When I park at the supermarket in my OSF I park it alone miles from the store but when I come back out it normally has motors next to it!
Top Ghia Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Yeah makes you wonder how we ever managed without all that modern gubbins on a car looking after us. Turns out we did just fine as you found out. Nice motor by the way.
GJUK Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Nice car and I enjoyed reading the write up. I think we've all been there with a lot of those points! Main beams and twigs flying at your face I've done!
