does anyone else get drivers behaving badly toward them cos they're in an older car?

i was giving the 'tina some beans today up the bypass, prob going about 60 ish (thats giving it beans for me lol  ) and i overtook a car going considerably slower. then he sped up and overtook me and slowed down again :? i'm like WTF? cos i then had to overtake him again. but i kinda realised that i get that alot. people overtaking me for the sake of it even thought i'm pretty much matching their speeds. it makes me have to slow down cos i havent got the extra gear to get the top end to overtake.

discuss.

I've never noticed it before all I get is smiles and people pointing when I drive past, although I don't go that quick and overtake many people as she needs new rear suspension.

That's where you need a sleeper... Imagine it, pranny in Mondeo gives you large for being an old car, drop it into 3rd, the Turbo spools up, the rear end squats, squirms for grip and he just gets smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror...

Alternatively paint the car a bright colour and people tend to drive past slowly taking pictures... It's always worked for me

Sleepers are actually quite dangerous...

I constantly get people pull out on me... thinking out that sweet little Anglia, he's going slow I've got ages to pull out...

and then I'm right on top of them...

Or the other one is people pull out and then slow down to gawp at you...

And the other one is people smiling at you as you sit at a junction.. thinking oooh what a lovely old car... until you drift sideways out the junction and then you are just a hooligan.....

I do get the occasional simpleton in his hot hatch messin on the dual carriage ways an motorways, but mine does 80 without nowhere near over revving her. And most of the time people over take then let me over take them jus so they can have a proper look at the older, nicer, shinier old ford. :D:D:D:D

Oh and the hot hatches dont get a chance from the lights tho, they jus see the ar$e end an think what the fook. looks like a hearse goes like a train, catch me if ya can awesome.:twisted:

I don't get it so much in the van. People don't pull out on me, because they're too busy gawping and if they're driving up my arse, I just drop a gear and floor it.

But, in my Anglia saloon years ago (not modified) it happened all the time. I remember two occassions when Mk3/4 Escorts tried overtaking me after pulling off a (the same) roundabout. They thought they'd have a go at overtaking me because I'd be dead slow, but they were unable to get past me before the first traffic island, so had to pull back in. :D

Mines hardly a sleeper as it sticks out like a sore thumb being bright orange and yellow. But I do get people thinking it's going to be slow, the way back from Ford fair last year is a case in point. I was overtaking a few cars at cough cough "motorway speeds" when this idiot in a porsche came screaming up behind me and sat there flashing his lights. I pulled in and let him by then pulled out again, the look on his face in his mirror was priceless when I flashed him to pull over well into the 3 figures (sorry daggle  )

3500 rpm for 50mph? ouch, I think I'm doing around 80 to 85 at that sort of rpm.

Yeah I know how you feel, with 997ccs the ol' gal only feels comfortable sitting around 55-60 mph, I have wound her upto 70 once but its something I wouldn't repeat, poor little thing was screaming its nuts off. I drove it back from Watford when I bought it in tow with my dad in his Vectra (dont worry, he just hast got round to finishing his other projects yet) and always feel that wherever I go, the car gets so many admiring glances, they looked a little surprised when I started winding it up and overtook doing 65, but that's the most I gop up to really. It doen't bother me as the furthest I go is 1/2 hours drive to Bluewater unless I'm just driving for a relax and almost anywhere I go is via the lanes so the difference isn't too noticeable there, though a little while ago I hadf an issue with two guys in a mondeo tailgating me about 4 feet from my bumper doing 50, though i resolved that when I stopped and ran back to them in a mad fit of rage, it was quite amusing on retrospect as they were two quite hefty guys in their thirties but they looked proper freaked out, coming up with the excuse that I was weaving across the road well I would do with someone with halogen bulbs in my mirrors up my arse. he guy in the passenger seat kept saying sorry all the time and the driver then said he was only messing, I'm a police officer. Didnt think to ask for anything as it was clearly the round ones but hadn't reckoned on me flipping even more lol. Just before that some girl saw me, looked at me coming through town and pulled across me to go the other way, I was doing maybe 40 as could see everything but still have drum brakes, I couldnt believe that as she waited till I was close. She suddenly realised what she'd done when I let go of the horn to shield my face and braced myself back, missing her by inches. Used to get that a lot in the land rover, people think its a slow old land rover but we did 70 on the trip home from collecting it. They soon realise its a bit quicker when you get close with a big steel girder bumper. But generally people just wave or smile.

I was on the motorway in the outside lane overtaking 50mph traffic, when this utter apple pie of about 50 years old in a S-Type Jag comes flying up behind me, starts tailgating, waving his arms about etc. Well there was clearly fook all I could do, because there was dense traffic in the middle lane, so I ignored him. Anyway after about a minute of this he starts flashing his King halogen main beams repeatedly, dazzling me.

I flew completely off the handle and if I was in ANY other situation, I would of stopped the car and murdered the bastard.

i love it when you are on the motorway and you see some one screaming up behind and under cutting people and undercut you..................down goes the pedal and you keep it just right so he has to pull behind then they try it again and foot goes down again.....i did this to one guy few years ago for about 7 miles

FPMSL :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I have a lot of cocks playing silly buggers when I am out in the Anglia, I just have to let them f*** around as standard drums all round aren't the best anchors.

In the Capri though, I grow horns. My rule of "Defend The Road Your On & Defend The Road You Want" stands. I once cut a BMW up on a round about with the arse end, that was funny, he tried to undertake me, so I had it large. Funny how he stayed away from me afterwards.

As for tailgaiters, I drop it in 3rd (motorway) or 2nd (normal road) and say Ta Da to them as they dissapear. Some people are so impatient and arrogant, it does wind me up. My whole area is full to capacity with these freaks.

BTW, another trick I have is people not giving way to me on a certain part of road. There is a Land Rover always parked on their side which means they have to give way because the obstruction is on their side. Well, most don't, so they have the front of a Capri at warp speed aiming for them. You should see some of their faces.

One person called me a W****r, so I turned around and went after him. Funny how all of a sudden he wished he never said it. T****r.

I have no time for people like that :evil::evil::evil:
