SmokeEm Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Anyone got any plans to work on their OSF's over the festive period? If so what you up to
JP. Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Plans to work on this.. and get it near finished. '74 3.0 GXL in freshly painted Sebring Red. Rebuild engine & rebuild tranny are in, Rebuild Bilsteins are on ( 300/70 on 190lb springs ). Will get as close to original as we can get ( all the GXL mouldings ) with the exception of wheels ( banded Rostyle ) and suspension. 3
Admin Vista Posted December 17, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 17, 2014 Looks nice. When I restored my GXL in the mid 90's, the side mouldings were the one thing I didn't want back on. I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in it to mount them, a triple black pinstripe finished it off quite well. I'll dig out a pic of it later. No concrete plans to work on mine, I might look at ways of improving the vent on the van's petrol tank though.

Kieran Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 How is the Corsair coming along and why no build thread? Because there has been no progress apart from cleaning it (which it still needs more of!) Picked up a Pinto for it though! Will make a build thread when work starts on it 1
Admin Vista Posted December 19, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 19, 2014 I have decided to cancel any attempts at forming plans around my car on Christmas day, instead I will Get roused at the crack of dawn by a 6 and 4 year old with hyperactivity disorder Watch them shred lots of wrapping paper whilst failing completely to keep up with what is from whom Make phone calls to friends and family thanking them for gifts opened at stage 2 (whilst carefully avoiding naming said gifts) Open a couple of pairs of socks and, if I'm lucky, a T shirt with a car on it Cook or at least assist in cooking (whilst drinking) Pretend I am enjoying company of Mother in Law Eat to excess (whilst drinking to excess) Call for silence to watch Queen's speech Watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or James Bond (what do you mean they're not on??) Eat and drink some more Go to bed early with hangover already building Wake up on Boxing day and vow not to drink so much next year (already knowing that vow will not be kept) 2

Danish Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Anyone got any plans to work on their OSF's over the festive period? If so what you up to I have plans to finish the wiring loom and try a new paint colour out. But my back's been playing up the last few weeks so at the moment I'm not sure what I'll actually be able to do :-s 1
deltamal Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Most of the winter jobs have been done now, new half-shaft seals and bearings, new custom exhaust with Zircotec ceramic coating, underneath of the car under-sealed, just got the throttle body linkage to re-engineer, not happy with Mr Fords method!
ianb10 Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 Well hopefully I will be putting the engine back in my Anglia and getting it started,( about time too I hear you all say) then only a few little jobs to get it to MOT stage.
bazoff72 Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 Spending Christmas at sea around the Falkland island area freezing cold, dreaming of family and the other dream in my life, to get this project finished ......... work work work............
seaneylad Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 Converting to coil overs on front, new rack, polybush, rebuild brakes and new discs LSD in back dif .. Then save some money for engine and carbs to be done later in year.. but need to move out and buy my 1st house, which could cause an issue with car cash flow hopefully not though
Admin Vista Posted December 20, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 20, 2014 Spending Christmas at sea around the Falkland island area freezing cold, dreaming of family and the other dream in my life, to get this project finished ......... work work work............ What do you do?
skeeter Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 JP I love the look of that Capri, the colour is fantastic. S
oddball Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 How is the Corsair coming along and why no build thread? The Corsair has had nothing done to it since we purchased it other than a quick clean due to a lot going on this year [non car related] and not having any spare time or much space to work on it ;( We have now got an engine and hopefully between working on the Escort and Fiesta it will be up and running next year or else I will sell it!
SmokeEm Posted December 20, 2014 Author Report Posted December 20, 2014 I hope you don't sell it Ali. Corsairs are my favourite OSF of all. When my boat comes in, I will have me a 302ci powered Automatic one with electric power steering and decent brakes.. You could always build yours like that and then sell it to ME!!! 1
classicwhitey Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 you wont sell it, i can really see you driving one.not a model you see alot of. Jenkins fleet 1
jas Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 Still be at work in Dawlish, kind of had enough off the sea wall there.Waves always hitting me.
bazoff72 Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 What do you do? I work offshore on a derrick/pipe lay barge installing oil platforms and laying oil pipe lines for the oil industry! hence why most of the work being done on my Escort is being done by others, not ideal i know but if i was to do it myself god knows when it would get finished ha ha
