No car content as such, but just sharing my budget (ish) garage project at home

Firstly, I purchased this large concrete garage from someone I know. It started life at the Supermarine factory in Southampton (home of the Spitfire), the old boy I bought it off bought it when they were tearing the factory down years ago.

It looks crap but I have plans, its approx 28ft x 13ft

So Just after moving in to my new property I put a new fence up and cleared all the fir trees & general crap to make space

Then me an the missus (shes a good girl but dont go telling her ;) ) mixed up and laid down the concrete base

The dogs approves

Wow that is some man cave you have built yourself there. Wish I had some thing that big so I could work on my car any time then. Would like to see what you have in store for the inside.

And there's me thinking you were going to put a nice compressor and receiver in the 'outhouse' LOL. I know the cladding is largely cosmetic but i'd add some 2" uPVC angle trim up the corners to conceal the exposed timber edge grain - bed it on some mastic and it'll last as long as the remainder does.......expert tip! Nice bit of recycling - well done.

The plan was to have the compressor in the end, but changed my mind, its now going in my shed out of the way.

Thanks for the tip about the corners. I have already sorted those just as you said but with more tanalised timber so its more in keeping

Just recently I gave up my full time workshop so I could work from home, saving me the costs & the 50 mile round trip every day, so I thought I had better get it finished of so I could actually use it! So over xmas I started on the interior whilst everyone else was stuffing their faces with turkey and watching re-runs of only fools & horses  :-)

Some of the stuff just dumped inside from my workshop, including an old Ford

I couldnt live with the concrete walls on show like that, plus I knew at some point I would end up damaging myself on the joining bolts  :mad2:  So I decided to plasterboard it!

I used battening to get them straight and then used dot & dab to hold them up

Plastering is all done, time for a whitewash, skirting & architrave

I started to paint the floor previously, but the paint was crap, so I have now started to paint it with epoxy floor paint.

This is as far as I have got, will be tomorrow before I can shift everything over so I can paint the front of the workshop :) Its starting to look like an office!

Good to know, I went in there the other week for looking something (cant remember what now) on my way to challenge fencing

I would've been there no doubt. Although I don't work for the branch specifically, being in earshot of everything is vital for me. I get to hear all about changing trends, local deals etc etc. I managed to secure a deal on Monday for 56 artic loads of Timber, directly from Sweden forests. Bargain too...

Excellent man bolt hole, a good sound system and a kettle required. Challenge Fencing, is that sort of posh sport?

I have a Technics stacker system in waiting, another freebie a mate gave me when he up sticks & moved to somewhere called Wales!

I dont do nuffin posh, apart from door furniture  ;)
