Admin Vista Posted January 21, 2015 Admin Report Posted January 21, 2015 To be honest I can't remember if I've seen this van on here before or not but I like anything where someone has thought outside the box and isn't afraid to be different (capri testarossa from my other recent thread excepted) To quote Coldplay, "It was all yellow!"
mk2 mike Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Lot of work gone into that but I HATE it. With a capital 'H'. Not just that particular car but that whole look. I detest, loath and despise the 70s custom styling. I'd much rather own that testa-pri or the Capri-minor. Hats off to the hours spent on it though. 1
The Transplanter Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Very 70s Street Machine front cover material. I love hot/street rods, but no fanks you can keep that one
SmokeEm Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 I'll have it! But then I have zero taste
mk2 mike Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Actually reading that back it seems a bit harsh lol. If the owner is on here I'm not having a pop at the owner, each to their own on taste and style. I'm more of a sheep and have my car the same as everyone else's lol.
PeteRS8084 Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 You should have been bought up in Southend in the 70s, the cruise nights were always loaded with cars like this, this is what started my love of cars! 1
mk2 mike Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 Lol I was bought up in south London in the 70's. Hence my love for the lowered look.
herb capri Posted January 21, 2015 Report Posted January 21, 2015 i love it! as a kid in physics i got my hands caned by my teacher for drawing a near copy of this! not cos he didnt like 70s custom ,just because he was an organ and it was physics. i bought a mk1 van as my first car,and as it took me a while to pass my test my dear father [a pig farmer ] thought it would be ideal to take two pigs to the abbatior in it!!! this very clearly rendered it useless as a passion wagon, you can get the pig out,but never the smell!!
Admin Vista Posted January 21, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted January 21, 2015 Generally I don't like 70's custom stuff but that's mostly because of the metal flake lurid paint jobs. Without that, I do actually find myself liking this van. That said, I wouldn't choose it over my van.
bigglesmk2 Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 To do that to a van now would be a heinous crime, but you have to appriciate it's a van of it's time and in my opinion has it's place as a classic ford.
mk2 mike Posted January 22, 2015 Report Posted January 22, 2015 Trouble is it isn't a van from its time. It's recent!
Admin Vista Posted January 22, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted January 22, 2015 Trouble is it isn't a van from its time. It's recent! I thought that too but look at the date and reg no in this article, it looks like it was more an update / refresh of a much earlier conversion
SmokeEm Posted January 23, 2015 Report Posted January 23, 2015 Have no fear guys, I remember it from the early 80's so deffo not recent. Maybe just recommissioned. 1
mk2 mike Posted January 23, 2015 Report Posted January 23, 2015 Aha. I thought that because of (a) there's a modern car in the background and (b ) the pic was taken with a digital camera! Any pics of the interior in that article Scott?

Admin Vista Posted January 23, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted January 23, 2015 "This neat 5" chopped Escort van"... 'neat' would be 1970s speak I guess. Funny how you can date a period by the phraseology used, when was the last time you heard someone say "groovy" or "far out"?
