To be honest I can't remember if I've seen this van on here before or not but I like anything where someone has thought outside the box and isn't afraid to be different (capri testarossa from my other recent thread excepted)

To quote Coldplay, "It was all yellow!"

Lot of work gone into that but I HATE it. With a capital 'H'. Not just that particular car but that whole look. I detest, loath and despise the 70s custom styling. I'd much rather own that testa-pri or the Capri-minor.

Hats off to the hours spent on it though.

Actually reading that back it seems a bit harsh lol. If the owner is on here I'm not having a pop at the owner, each to their own on taste and style. I'm more of a sheep and have my car the same as everyone else's lol.

i love it! as a kid in physics i got my hands caned by my teacher for drawing a near copy of this!

not cos he didnt like 70s custom ,just because he was an organ and it was physics. i bought a mk1 van as my first car,and as it took me a while to pass my test my dear father [a pig farmer ] thought it would be ideal to take two pigs to the abbatior in it!!!

this very clearly rendered it useless as a passion wagon, you can get the pig out,but never the smell!!

Generally I don't like 70's custom stuff but that's mostly because of the metal flake lurid paint jobs. Without that, I do actually find myself liking this van. That said, I wouldn't choose it over my van. :-)

To do that to a van now would be a heinous crime, but you have to appriciate it's a van of it's time and in my opinion has it's place as a classic ford.

Trouble is it isn't a van from its time. It's recent!

I thought that too but look at the date and reg no in this article, it looks like it was more an update / refresh of a much earlier conversion

Aha. I thought that because of (a) there's a modern car in the background and (b ) the pic was taken with a digital camera!

Any pics of the interior in that article Scott?

"This neat 5" chopped Escort van"... 'neat' would be 1970s speak I guess.

Funny how you can date a period by the phraseology used, when was the last time you heard someone say "groovy" or "far out"?
