Seeing as the sun was out I thought I'd go for a spin today......nowhere in particular, just doing some miles.

I got the usual thumbs up from other cars, couple of bibs, flashed by a bus.

Filled up with fuel and got a small crowd around the car when I went in to pay......'I had one of them'!

Pulled out and a motorbike pulled alongside me, 'AHH THE GOOD OLD DAYS' he shouts through my window before accelerating off.

Next roundabout a couple of young chavs in a lowered BMW pull alongside, driver puts his hand to his ear listening to the sweet music of the 45's so I put my foot down a bit in 4th so they growl at him a bit, he nods in approval!

Next roundabout I hear him drop into second on the exit of the roundabout ......so I oblige......of course!

I don't know who had the biggest grin when I flew past...me or him!!!

Ahh... I love driving my car, although I think I must me some kind of OSF voyeur.......I love the attention!!!

Cos it MINE!! :-)

And I only popped out for a spin

I just thought it was my good looks that brought the attention when out in the Anglebox but the wife assures me it's not Hate it when you get the jumped up little fart with boom boom boom going on the 6inch exhaust out the back with as much power under the hood as my fuel pump sat next to you for a race.I usually give the throttle a few blips then let them go whilst I set off like an old man that I am,It tends to annoy the younger generation don't know why. Great fun making them look a daft twat in front of their mates

Like Dal I too love the attention that driving my rs escort brings.........must have been a lonely child I reckon! But the attention when I fill it up, and people taking pictures and videoing when out on the road. Car horns bibbed and blokes roaring up the outside with smiles on their faces giving the thumbs up can't be beaten.

But better that all of this is the ones in their BMW, Mercedes and even Aston Martins that have come along side and just given the knowing nod with a smile. And the guys in their 40s and 50s driving their Hondas and alike who give you a glance as they go passed with their wives in the passenger seat, you know they are thinking I used to have one of those. .......or I really wanted one of those!

Classic ford ownership, WHAT EVER MODEL, is a joy.......and it makes you feel good when all around can be crap!

Long may it continue.

A few years ago I was en route up to Ford Fair in my RS and noticed a black Ferrari Enzo coming up fast behind me with the driver gesticulating and waving out of the window. I tried to pretend I hadn't noticed but it was a bit hard to ignore when he slowed down level with me in a LHD car! I looked casually round (feigning casual interest in the black hyper car alongside me) and realised it was Jay Kay giving me a big wave and . I was quite chuffed with that!

On the way to CF this year (I think) we were passed by a flash harry in new mclaren, he passed really slowly gawking at US with a little smile on his little clean gucci face!

Love it :-)

What about the unmarked police car that flashed his blue lights and gave us the thumbs up on the way to the jolly farmers meets

we have only had our MK1 for 3 weeks now but have been useing our 87 cosworth for years and was very surprised how much attention the mk1 draws and from a different type of person. It seems the older classic is seen to be cool by  young and old alike where the cos is middle aged blokes like myself and real petrol heads

As I estimate 50% of the people aged 30-40 were concieved in the back of a Mk1 Escort around here, I seem to get knowing smiles from ladies of a certain vintage. (I had my first Mk1 in 1975)
