Jake100ePop Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 So today I got in my 100e which was my baby and went to college, drove through the car park looking for a space and some idiot reverses into me and has now pretty much turned it into a trabant
aardvark101 Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Wow thats pants, check with the college to see if they have cctv of the car park so you can get a copy for the insurance
Jake100ePop Posted January 15, 2016 Author Report Posted January 15, 2016 Well I'm going to try and drag the front end back out and I will be getting the cctv soon I hope
Admin Vista Posted January 15, 2016 Admin Report Posted January 15, 2016 He didn't stick around then?
theloudboy Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 My neighbour reversed into my car smashed my bumper and just drove off what a lovely neighbour to have
Tackleberry Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 F#@ks me off when they don't stick around.... Get the CCTV and find matey.... I'm sure a deal can be "negotiated" for cost of repairs and perhaps a new set of wheels and tyres....to save you the inconvenience of reporting him//her fit failing to stop.
colr6 Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 Sit in an asda car park for an education on driving standards and just watch how many cars get "nudged" and people drive away. Had it done to me whilst sat in the car. They were paying that much attention they didn't realise I was sat in it!
iandq Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 sadly this is getting normal now, I have actually had people tell me 'that's what bumpers are for' I never leave my Anglia anywhere like car parks, people have no respect for other peoples property these days. hope you get it sorted mate, cheers, ian. 1
mk2 mike Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 My neighbour reversed into my car smashed my bumper and just drove off what a lovely neighbour to have We've got a doris in our street like that. Shocking driver. Literally bounces off cars when parking or getting out of a space. Her micra doesn't have a straight panel on it I've warned her several times but she still does it every day and drives away without a care in the world!
crapichris Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 Went into town before Christmas, parked my car in a council car park. Came back to the car 2 hours later and found an astra firmly stuck in my drivers door. Couldn't figure it out at first but when we eventually tried to move it we realised the plonker who owned it had left the handbràke off and it had rolled down the hill into my car. Phoned the fuzz who had no interest so took a shedload of photos, got several witnesses, gave offending vehicle a goodbye kick, and went home. Next day my insurance was informed. They found that there was a council camera that fight the whole event. They tried to contact the owner who claimed that as he wasn't in the car he wasn't responsible. Unfortunately my insurance didn't accept his excuses, informed his insurance company who hadn't been informed by the owner. This plonker insurance company settled up with me and car as repaired. His insurance policy was terminated as he refused to discuss it with his insurance company or accept liability. Result!
colr6 Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 The problem with making a claim on someone else's ins is its classed as a no fault claim from your side. But will gaurantee your premiums will increase next year because of it! Reason being statistics prove you will make a claim in the next two years. So my friend you are now a statistic
sean davis 67 Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 mate im guessing from what I've read that they failed to stop? or you would have simply exchanged details. if they have failed to stop and you have not got any witnesses who managed to get the reg number then as you say the only way forward is to try via the cctv route. you will find however that no organisation will allow "joe public" to view their cctv. in order to do this you will need to report the collision to the police. being a carpark it will be deamed an "0ther place" accident. it will be the police and them only that can view/seize and get a copy of the cctv. if they manage to get the other vehicles reg number, providing it is still within 14 days of the incident a notice of intended prosecution (noip) can be sent to the registered keeper. if you do report it to police, you still have the choice of either pursuing the other party through the criminal justice system (courts) or to simply have the police provide you with the other parties insurance details assuming they have insurance. hope this helps
crapichris Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 My insurance agents made an application to the council in my case. The council charged the agents about £45 for the evidence which was added to his bill. And by the way mine was classed as anon fault. Suggest you have a look around for CCTV and if there is any find out who owns it. Think they can't actually with old it - something to do with your right to information. Knew the Euros would be useful for something!
irishtorag Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 WORST PARKING I SAW WAS IN SPAIN Saw a suzuki push a ford mondeo and a bmw a class back to make a space that wasnt there. Owner of cafe i was in with family said thats normal
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 30, 2016 Moderator Report Posted January 30, 2016 I was standing in front of a guys house to watch his neighbour reverse out of his driveway across 4 lanes into the side of my parked Twincan. It was midday on a cloudless Australian Summer day and the car is bright orange. He said he didnt see the car there! He would have driven off only that we ran across the road and pulled his cars out of the ignition before he could get away. He then asked would I claim his wife was driving so he wouldnt loose his licence. I just called the police instead. Took 5 months to source a new door skin and I had to use up an original Ford Twincam guard that I had a pair stored in their original boxes (they were the last Ford Australia ever had) Because it was my own part I never got paid for it. So It cost me alot of money and 5 months without a car even though it wasnt my fault. Even if you get your car fixed to the way it was before (which it never is) you still loose on your time and stress and the adversarial process just trying to get your dues. Sympathies to the OP.
