In my infinite stupidity though I've sucessfully managed to lose one of these chappies

 

It's for the rear rod. All others are present and I've bought these

Any idea where I can get the missing part. Although, knowing my luck repro ones will be useless and NOS will cost £1500 [each but I'll be forced to buy a pair!]

The escortrs ones are the ones we binned as no good, we had to get a local machine shop to copy the originals

Try alderidge trimmers, they do quality upholstery so don't see why they don't have good quality fittings to go with it.

Little side project for you there then, use the spares to get some more remade and make yourself a few quid? 3d printing is the way should be fairly cheap I'd imagine?

looking at 3d printing services in google it looks like there are quite a few companys doing a service i would imagine you would need to send them a pic of what you want and quantities and they will quote you from thereif you cannot find anyone willing to do it your end i would take up the reigns should you want to sell on one of your spares. cheers jay

I did a similar Google search myself.

 

The ones I found need an image first in .STL format after being created with 3D CAD software.

 

Ideally I'd need to find somebody with 3D scanning capabilities or someone able to replicate it exactly with 3D CAD software. My CAD experience is slim to nothing!

my knowlage of the 3d printing world is not good mate i thought there would be companys out there for that sort of service if we both keep looking it up we might get somewhere. did you buy the set off ebay

OK, so, I've found a few companies that are able to reverse engineer various components ranging from huge to minutiae!

 

The average price to create a 3D CAD diagram of the component is £300 + VAT [typical daily rates] Then there's the cost for actual 3D printing.

 

Somewhat expensive to recreate a few headlining components!!

I'd have imagined a decent 3d printing company would have a 3d scanner as well as thats what you need to produce the print, and it shouldnt take very long to scan a relatively small object?

i see these in maplins and a display of what the lads have made whilst demonstating these machines. they sell a 3d printer with scanner for £599 surely there must be someone out there who could knock a few of these out for a small proffit or is that word escort = £££££ again

Interestingly it's really easy to find a company what will create the CAD image and then the 3D print. I'm finding it really hard to fins a firm that will perform a 3D scan though. Most Google results are ultra sound based and relate to pregnancies!

I haven't used them myself (and am not sure whether the first link is US or UK based but it does have a .co.uk domain) but either of these companies should be able to do both for you. I have used 3D scanning and printing in my industry but not for something like this so I don't know what the costs would be like.
