Been mooching on YouTube with a variety of "meet" video's, including Jolly Farmer, Boxill and Ace Cafe.

Jolly Farmer meets appears to be the more respectable, with the occasional "slip of the clutch"....

Boxhill's similar with a bit more "foot slipped off the clutch whilst getting cramp in my right leg officer"....

But shit it my boots, Ace Cafe....it's just filled with Johnny Boys in Civics and knobhead moped riders pulling wheelies and cutting through traffic....!! Wouldn't want to go there on a non classic meet through fear of some knobhead scratching my pride and joy.

Some of the antics are laughable, others are embarrassing.. ie, some biff trying to drift around a mini roundabout about in a limited slip diff merc...or just completely shitte at driving full stop.

Don't get me wrong, I've dumped the clutch and lit the tyres....but those days are few and far between.

Do you think it's down to older owners, more respect for the cars, or been there and done that...?

I'm a bit far north to visit the Ace, although rowdiness is not unknown up here in the sticks, I've even been known to honk my horn at a sheep before. I think with me and my friends though it's a case of "The older we get, the faster we were".

I snapped one of my drive shafts on the weekend, but it was on a closed industrial estate. If I'm out on a public road in my Escort, then I just burble along like any other Bampy. :-)

Just listen at all you softees. What wrong with putting your shades on, bus pass in pocket, putting Nat King Cole on full blast and terrorising the local buses pulling wheelies on my battery bike. Off for a tatto next week and a leather jacket. Lo and behold any lollipop lady who gets in my way! Who needs the ace cafe

Hence why oldskoolford disassociated itself from the ace cafe meets years ago...

They publicly blamed us for that too despite us disassociating ourselves from their events years previously.

My beef with it is it's me the Police come to when there are complaints about it. This despite me living hundreds of miles away and having nothing to do with any of the meets that carry (or have carried) our name. John was also getting some of it but I think (hope?) it doesn't happen so much anymore for him.

Is that because most people refer to older Fords as Old Skool fords so thats how mistakenly they were attatched to the Old skool Ford club?

I only go to thw Ace cafe once a year for Cortina day..

The drive there is scarey enough.

The north circular road is like wacky racers !!

And their sausages are always undercooked !

Possibly partly to do with that but the main reason is that the people organising the official OSF meets there told them they couldn't do it anymore but the venue kept promoting it as OSF night anyway. With advertising by them as anyone welcome, no one there to take any kind of control and the venue not stepping up to do so, predictably it got out of hand. Police involved etc. Then the venue posted it on their website suggesting it was all our fault.

Noob to the OSF scene? No, owned them for over 30 years. Just don't agree that irresponsible driving at inappropriate times is universally accepted as being representative of the scene.
