4 door escort prices?????

It's all very interesting, I'm in the couldn't care less how many doors camp, but maybe because I have a 4 dr? Rally makes a good point about 2 and 4dr rs 2000 being equal in price when sold side by side, what was the split in sales here 2 or 4 wise? Whats the split now? I assume the least would command more anyway? Been thinking of examples here closest ford one xr4i, xr4×4, 3rd vs 5 Dr? How do they stack up price wise? Best comparison that I can think of would be e36 m3, 2 or 4 dr, price new price now? Or golf gti, 3 or 5dr

2 door escorts are the market leader, more desirable by many thus prices are increasing, which by default means all other models be it 4 doors, capris, anglias etc. are the second choice but these too are now rising due to people wanting to get into the ford scene but being priced out due to escort prices. Everything ford related is going up and 2 doors, be it lowly L models or RS' are top of the list barring exotic cortinas and capris etc.

 

By the way I have nothing against 4 doors just saying I dont think they'll ever match the 2 door prices.

I agree, I don't think they ever will either, it does make me smile the bragging or superior thinking of people, I have a 2dr escort........ its a only a 4dr.......... I know what you're saying about 3dr and sapphire cossy but I've always sort of looked at them as different cars, a bit like an escort and an orion or a chevette hatch back and the one with a boot?

4door prices are rising as i bought mine last year with 40k for 2000 euro.

needed repair on front panel and very bottom off rear arches ,the rest was mint

but tatty paint work.

Have a 1600xflow for her a set of 40's and a diff making the car 3k euro now ,so

altogether a cheap escort..

As for which is better ...... 4door to be honest as they flex less, have more strength

and do everything a 2door does (.Because of the b post and c post strength).

having said that i would love my 2door back as they look better and sell quicker.

 

4doors will keep rising as the 2door cars become less available on the open market and those

that do are going out of reach of the ordinary Joe Blogs

so you purchssed it for 2000 euros and have repaired the bodywork ,put a new engine and carbs in

Dunno but every escort I've ever seen rallied by Ford has been a 2 door. Must be a good reason for that?

I don't know about the strength thing but for every 2/3 door car you could name as many 4/5drs? Think the point is at new the cars were a similar price, similar or same performance, economy, space inside, someone in the past has decided that 2drs are cooler than a 4dr, as a result you pay 2 or 3 times more for one?

Colin that's what I'm trying to find out. To get a good 4 door what do I need to pay? Obviously less than a two door lol. The really nice one on the bay is still for sale at £9500. Is that expensive or on the money. That's the question I wanted answered when I started the link. What do you consider yours is worth as it's a minter I believe?????

You've just got to bite the bullet and look at a few, get an idea of condition, then put prices to them yourself. There's some wild ideas of prices out there! It only takes a couple of optimists with there self valuations and eBay is full of 20/30k cars!

I think 9500 is too much personally but its not mine he can ask what he wants, whether it sells or not is a different matter. There was a mk2 2door on ebay recently for 30k lol nice car but not 30 large.

Ford rallied two doors but a lot of other manufacturers rallied

4doors.

As to the other question regarding how much my car stands

yes 3000k euro in total POINT its a cheap escort !

I dont charge myself for my labour or i would not be into classics.

I do all my own work ,im a car restorer and a panel beater by trade.

Maybe you need to look outside of the blue oval to see as said in this thread

and ones before, 4doors are under priced in ford circles because of 2door and RS snobbery,

Infact i can safely say ive read on osf of snobbery towards other models of the blue oval than a 2door escort !

If your a FORD man or doris all models count not just 2door escorts.

I love all fords not just 2 door escorts, just because I have a 2 door doesnt mean I dont like other models, just happens that most of the cars I've owned have been 2 doors barring my first which was a 4 door mk1 cortina deluxe, I loved that car. (EAN967D if its still around lol)

 

And personally I think escorts are overpriced for what they are, but the market dictates their value, which is good for selling but not buying, prices are getting silly but thats good for me as I'll be selling in the future, and no I didnt get into it to make money thats just the way its gone over the past few years, in fact I lost money on the last 2 door I sold but I enjoyed the journey of building it which was something I'd always wanted to do. If the market means I make money this time so be it. I bought my current mk1 10 years ago (in fact almost to the day weird) and spent 5k on parts last year, not to mention a lot more on the engine and if I make a few quid on it thats great.

 

Anyway if you wanna buy, buy now before it gets even more expensive.
