I bought a 1956 Ford Pop (sit up and beg style) for £2.00, it had 32000 on the clock just needed a big end re-metaling, used it for a year and sold it for £45.00! that was in 1965....my current Mk3 was free! left to me by Father in law.

Back in the 90s called at a mates,, had a Capri 3.0 on his drive looking a bit sad for itself, told me needed a engine ,said could have it ,,dragged it down home, rung local scrapyard who had a engine for £50 , up and running, painted it sunburst red, already had black vinyl roof and alloys, and mint check interior ,sold it three weeks later for £800.those were the days,

I did see my mate right though with a drink who gave it to me

I bought my Twincam in the early 90s for 2000 quid still road registered although its ring gear was shot and you had to clutch start it. I was intending to buy a van but a friend talked me into the Twincam instead. If I ever get sick of it I guess I can still trade it for a van.

I've got just the van for you.

I brought my first mk1 for £150 in about 1997

One owner 27k, my mum made me sell it because I hadn't passed my test, so about a year later I brought a mk2 estate with a 1600 xflow for £50, I used to get spares from I think his name was Ian Harwood or something like that nice chap, he used to scrap good 4 door and estate shells because he couldn't sell them lol

I paid £300 for my Mk1 2dr in '99. Genuine 55k with every MoT and a load of receipts and the seller had just finished putting some fresh panels on it (and a bloody pop up sunroof). There was a bad earth on the indicators and the headlamps had blown. I still know him now and when I see him he always says he should have charged me more. Lol
