Mk2 Escort barn find

Hi.

 

I have come across a 1976 Escort in a garage compound at work. It has been off of the road since at least 1995.

 

I'm happy to try and register it to myself if there is interest for anyone to purchase for restoration.

 

If not it goes to the scrap yard which seems a shame.

Right o I know little to nothing about old fords so am happy to send a picture of the car. It has no interior and a bit of crash damage to the front nearside but other than that looks OK. Think it's got a vinyl roof if that makes any difference

as in, you have obviously searched the internet to find OldSkoolFord, and yet did not see any values for Escorts circa 1976, and so are prepared to scrap the vehicle.

I am a member of a lot of old bike forums so just searched for old Ford forums. I genuinely have no idea of value or desirability as is in a sorry state.

 

I know like with most older cars or bikes they have a following of enthusiasts so thought this would be the best place. I work for the council so it will genuinely be scrapped when we come to renovate the garage block if I don't 'rescue' it

 

I will likely give the majority of what ever it sells for to charity so I won't be benefiting from it.

 

My issue was whether to bother paying to try and register it to me via the DVLA

Is it a two door or four door? I assume the council has tried tracing the registered keeper?

I only found it today and have requested via the police for any details they may have on the PNC. It's a 4 door 1.3 registered in may 1976.

its a 78 not 76. looks like the local hooligans got there before you though

It has definitely seen better days. Cheers for the information on the year. My head was saying 76 for so easy reason.

 

I'll let you know if I trace a keeper or what happens to it

Pull if out and store it somewhere, or it might be to late before you gather the necessary info.

Any rough guide on value. There is no interior. Looks to be most of the engine there and that's about as far as my knowledge goes.

well its one of them things, i used to buy em at 50 quid to break em, depends how rotton inner wings and floors are really. maybe couple of hundred quid, maybe more if someone really wants it. there is an escort banger race coming up advertised on here!

be a shame to banger it, i would love the old thing, but at mo we dont know if its stolen, till wanted by the owner or anything like that, until you find things like that out its a no no for me

 

if you work for the council, they can get the ownership info from DVLA, you just gotta go to the right department, their car parking dept would be a good start, as thats how they send you parking fines, police i doubt are going to give you that info, unless you have asked through official counci channels
