Brightwells auction on Wednesday has few nice fords.

 

An Escort 1300E needing resto. Cant be many of those left and not in that colour. Selling with no reserve.

 

A rally looking Mk1 Escort Estimate 17.5 19.5K

 

A great looking Capri 3.0 S with low miles.

 

Could be that someone picks-up a real bargain.

The 1300E looks a great car and had two lady owners as you say can't be many left in Stardust Silver it sold for £9200.  I hope its gone to someone who will restore it or keep it like it is, it would be a shame to ruin it.

I would love to have something like this. Unfortunately I’ve never had a classic and something that could be used and worked on at the same time would be ideal. Buying from an auction would scare the hell out of me. would something like this actually be solid from the bottom or would you be opening a can of worms? I suppose at the price it sold for it must be. I’ve joined to see if I can get a bit more knowledge before I make a decision

Why pay a fortune for something with the original tag on it when your going to have to put wings/ inners/ front panel/ floor/ sills full new interior and so and so on, it's then NOT original. Basically your paying for a logbook and a roof plus the small bits. Now if the car is in exellent to mint 'original cond' then that's a different story or it needs some minor re- commissioning then yes pay for it. You might as well get a total she'd pay less and do the same work as you would on a supposed ' original' car. I've seen these ads one owner from new done 10000 mls stored for forty years in a garage ( damp one ) yes original but believe you and me it'll be shagged, storage unless in a heated garage does them no good at all.

Get your point and it makes total sense. For it would be something that’s basically running and not much work to do.

Reading the description on this it’s quite vague and doesn’t really say much about the condition underneath and in all fairness I wouldn’t where to start. It’s still on eBay so just goes to show his asking way too much or it’s not as good as the description

Whoever bought that car at auction has either decided it's a pup, or was only ever doing so to make a quick buck.

I was at the auction when it sold.

I go to every one as its not far from me.

Spoke with the guy that bought it and was obvious he was a trader. Most of the cars that sold that day went to traders.

Didnt look like it was worth 9k let alone 14 hes asking now.
