Went on the force India tour of the factory today with my two lads who are both F1 fans ( Mercedes ) First impressions a bit a on the small side or was expecting a very large complex, might be me. On starting the tour cleanliness is of the upmost, the shine on the floor throughout the building was better than the shine on my cars paintwork !!! Had a close up view of 3 cars which was a big bonus. Just to get up close and study things that you wouldn't normally see, was looking at front top suspension arms then noticed the inner rose joint was bolted through the arm with what appeared to be a M6 bolt !.....what !! All those stresses anchored by a m6 bolt, I worry about 3/8 one on poxy panard rods not been up to the job. Other things was the testing dept which I could have spent all day in tbh but we couldn't. One of the last things we saw was the simulator they have which at the the time was been used by a test driver. Through this session they made a few alterations which he relayed his feelings, but was doing lap after lap after lap. That was some serious piece of kit where he can tell alterations they have made through the feedback from a simulator. They can test and improve items via the feedback from the driver using it which all provides a better and more reliable car with the funds they have unlike the major players who have possibly endless supply. So all in all a very good insight of behind the scenes and how much goes into producing what you see on the track. Certainly glad I went and so were my two lads. Would love to spend a few weeks there to see something go from design then in production/ testing and final fitting. Thanks to all at Force India for a great time.

Know what you mean as I got an invite to have a look round Maclaren's last year - didn't get to see the production area as there was a new model still under wraps but the race shop was immaculate and the trophy cabinets were immense! But the best bit for me was getting up close to all the past race cars from the 60's to last year's JB car.
