The car looks stunning as is and personally think it's value is in its originality. Put 4 cibies on but leave the roll cage out. That's my 2 peneth.

Why would you want a cage unless you race and its a requirement? They get in the way, they are not exactly aesthetically pleasing either. I have always viewed them as a bit well, sad really on a road car. A bit like a dump valve or an exhaust wistle on a non Turbo car.

If it was mine I would.

1/ Remove the S/A type sport stickers. 

2/ Get some nice black Recaro's

3/ Mod the engine till your hearts content.

 

All the above are reversable but would also be seen a 'period' sensible improvements should you decide to sell.

 

Then again as others have said. Its your car.

Cages help.with rigitidy, and help if you roll your car. Modern cars have crumple zones, and old cars have cages. And they look sooooo Cool.

Not if you head butt one and you're not wearing a crash helmet.............

 

 

I use to have a Fubarred open face hanging in my garage, I wouldn't like to know what my skull would have been like without it, pre Hans days. (but I suppose you would wear one and a Hans restraint every time you took the car out)

I end over ended and rolled my banger racer (Singer Gazelle) in about 1977, cage was padded, but I'm 6'6" and safety and seats weren't as a sophisticated then. The roof and passenger cell didn't move though as the cage was made of scaffolding tube, therefore I was the crumple zone. :-D The helmet only took one strike and it got a lovely set of concentric circle cracks from the top to the cheeks.

 If car manufacturers decided that their shell design required an extra incursion into the passenger cell area, they would make cars wider to accommodate them. If you are not using the car competitively to the necessary regs, a roll cage can be dangerous. Ask your insurers if they will add a premium, the buggers used to. My cage was built by my Old Man, who served his time on Rolls Royce, Daimler and Minerva, and also raced stock cars in the very early 50's, it was sturdy but not "shed built" in design. I was an 18yr old apprentice, I'd have made it out of cheese just to get racing.:-D

They don't fit cages because most people don't want them. You'd have to go out of your way to head but my cage!  And with any car, I'd rather be in a caged car than not in a roll. Specially with a 40 year old ford, where there not actually made of sturdy stuff.

I must say a cage is a pain in the arse, my seat is screwed to the floor and I still bang the cage. My helmet don't half take some hammer when your going round the track. A cage will only improve rigidity if it's fully welded in with supports to roof pillars A & B posts and door bars.

I never bang my head on mine! You must drive  like Mr Bobble head!

Away from the cage and stuff for a minute, I notice on my rear door cards I have two holes, one on top of the other about 100mm apart,

are these for grab handles or something, the ash trays are missing was just going to blank them off anyways.
