I realise it may be taboo subject but I would like to fit Tarmac arches to my 4 Door MK2 Escort, I would appreciate any advice and pictures, this may have been covered before but the pictures have disappeared due to photobucket and their new policy, thanks

Well thanks for the comments and support, judging from the lack of replies it is not the done thing, still looking for pics and advice before I dive in, thanks

Don't think it's a case of not the done thing, escorts having such a residual value as std cars people are reluctant to start chopping them up unless it's going to be a rally car. Seen a couple if 4 door arched, to me looks fine. It's your car and if that's what you want to do, then do it. Because of the values of 2 doors going towards the stars can see more 4 doors been used and modded like this to achieve the same result with a lesser price tag!

Thanks to Rally Pack 2000  for the pics I wonder if the rear doors on the black car open? and to everyone else for positive comments as has been said it is my car, just trying to get an idea on the best way of moving forward with this, just trying to find someone who has carried out this job, thanks

The Arch conversion is pretty much normal, where some encounter problems is when they go fitting a cage to match. Note that the Red Car effectively has a 2 door cage fitted inside. Some specialists also make some specifically for 4 doors but if you go down that route be sure to test it first that you can fit through the door. The cages themselves can intrude on the actual door opening so if you get one tailored for the smaller door opening of a 4 door it can become tight if you dont keep an eye on the installation. If you have ever tried to get into an MG Midget? It feel pretty much like that. Some then choose just to fit a 2 door cage but it does show in the back window which some may object too. Just things to consider before jumping in.

Going back a few years, John aley 4 door cages used to have a central bar from the main hoop following the roof line and down onto parcel shelf. Doing away with the two rear bars and if fitted the diagonal.
