Thanks for the pic Dale, staying 4 speed so centre console shouldn't prove any problems. Got a good idea on what the small peice looks like next to the glove box. And doesn't that dash look snazzy in green? Wouldn't mind I let a pair of remote mirrors go only a couple of years ago.....doh! Just need the glove box from Mark to have a rs2000 log book with it and jobs a good un..lol

As promised here are a few of the dash fascia options. Im not sure which yours currently has that you mentioned is damaged?

The full length vinyl fascia

The heater surround type with dash facia left matt back metal between it and the vent trim rings. These surrounds come in all black or silver lined, matching whether you have an RS dash with its surround trim also black, or the silver lined to match the silver surrounding Sport, L and GL dashes.

If your not using the conventional centre console with clock you can opt for the RS type clock binnacle that fits into the metal fascia that can also be left bare, giving the layout that dt36 illustrates above.

The other option is the fake wood fascia used in Ghias but since you probably aren't going down that route I haven't pictured it.

Thanks for taking the time RP, mine is like your first pic but with the 'sport' motif in the vynal. The slight damage is minimal but one of those things you would always be drawn to! The option of tray with clock appeals to me and looks very nice. The car is going to be finished in Harrier style with the likes of stripes/wheels/ overiders on the bumpers and beleive more like the RS interior. Have to do a bit more digging on spec of the Harrier. A couple of pics of the panel in question and damage, don't know if it would be possible to repair and hide if I were to use this option.

Just had a whip round the net for some pics, thinking strato silver with Harrier stripes, vynal roof-yes/no interior looks basic sport apart from recaros. Noticed the centre console with radio and clock, sure I've seen similar in cortina mk4/5 ? Was discussing last night about bumper overiders using the ghia ones and filling the rebate in that they have with the trim that fitted to the ghias bumper/ veiws on that one.

Although I have a vinyl roof on my car, I'm 50/50 with it. A lot of people tell me it looks right on my car, I'm undecided. 

Silver, yes all day long. Love it. 

Over riders, not for me. However, looking at a picture of my old Sport below, they did have them, so would keep with the original Harrier look.

The Sport fascia you have pictured is quite unique for that model. I have never seen embossed replacements likes that for sale. I don't think it was meant to be screwed on though. They have four long tabs to help attach to the dash but these always break off when you try to remove the fascia. Most use double sided tape to re-attach but it appears one previous owner went a bit more industrial with screws. Finding a new regular one even without the Sport embossing would be near impossible. I dare say the one I have pictured above is possibly the last new one left in existence. It cost me the equivalent of a 100 pounds in the late 80s and that was a fortune back then and I got too scared to use it. If you dont need the Sport embossing though I may be able to source a better condition second hand one for you.

With regards to previous talk about instruments, the photos of the Harrier you posted show it uses the Sport/Ghia type with the larger split central gauge. While the RS one does look nice the Sport one does look pretty good as well and a bit more practical.

With regards to overriders you about to go down a road of frustration no one ever mentions before you do. Our Rally Packs although share the basic Mexico look they were equipped with overriders. As you have seen there are the Ghia type ones that have an indent for their chrome bumpers plastic trim. Pictured below.

So with the Mk2 Split bumpers you need the overriders that don't have the cutout for the full width bumper plastic trim. What few people realise though is that there are 2 types of non Ghia overriders. One has a more defined side ridging than the other. These soft plastic parts are prone to splitting so when you try buy a replacement to make up a set you suddenly realise its the other type. I have been trying t find one to match my other three for many years and haven't been able too. So look for a complete set which dont have splits in it and if you can afford a new set that sometimes become available then I was wondering if you could possibly sling me a few quid?

Also of note is that Ford used the crappiest rust prone mild steel for the captive nuts embedded in them. The bolts seize in them and snap or the threads let go entirely rendering the whole overrider unusable.

Bet you never expected the humble overrider to be so complex LOL. My nemisis, hate be upon them.

Cheers for the Ifo RP once again thorough and informative. I was discussing this very thing with another forum member about the ghia overiders of which I have seen a few s/hand availiable. The Harrier ones I have seen have a massive price tag attatched to them where as the ghia ones more realistic. As for the difference in the moulding for the bumper strip I'm hoping it can be filled and overiders painted, a slight discrepancy in the rubber would not bother me. Can't see many people getting on their hands and knees inspecting them..lol Apart from all on here when it appears on the scene!! I did read a thread on another forum that there is also a difference between front and rear overiders, how true that is I don't know but the info came from a man who had been contacted to verify an authentic Harrier.

Yes the Harrier is equipped with the sport/ ghia dash and looking at it only the seats differ from a bog std car. Myself prefer the full RS interior, it's just a bit more upmarket. As its going to be a Harrier lookie likie so not everything has to be as built or perfect just tidy.

one thing it won't be getting replaced will the carrello h/lamps- spots at the sort of money they are asking for them! Cibies h/lamps from a golf will suffice and poss a pair of super oscars if I put spots on it.

wheels will be RS wheels and hopefully try and get of the jbw 7" under it. Will have to take some measurements and contact David at R&R alloys to check.

Going on the pics from the net would appear the Harrier has tinted glass, so that would be the next thing on the list or if it's silly money stay as is.

Col, vinyl tinting is that good now you could probably find a green or bronze to match. 

Had my Missus car done with privacy tint on the rear and the range the guy had was incredible. He did hers from a CAD template and the machine cut them perfectly. Don't know if they would have an Escort on CAD, but you never know. 

Price was £80 and you wouldn't tell the difference from a £400 factory option tint.

We never got Harriers here so I took a look and just when I thought the overrider issue couldn't get worse, the Harriers do in fact have different overriders at the rear than they do at the front. They have a flat top profile with a 90 degree downward bend just like the Ghia ones pictured above but without cutouts for a bumper strip. The front ones though are the type pictured in the 4th picture I posted above. I still have the original set of 4 that my Rally Pack came with from the factory and those are the same except they used them on the rear as well. So that makes 4 different overrider types. So you definitely need to find two of one type and two of another. The filled in Ghia ones will only work for the rear.

Absolutely! I still learn something new almost every week. I have never seen a Harrier in real life and never taken a close look at images of the rear to compare its overriders to the front as I just assumed there were the same as our Rally Packs ones. It was only when you mentioned it I thought hmmmmm better have a closer look at that. Its good to have learned something new but learning about another overrider type doesn't bring me happiness in the slightest. I will tried not draw too much joy when you post how frustrating it is to obtain a set LOL Many Harrier owners appear to have ditched overriders altogether.

I wish we had Harriers here. I like 'em.
