Busy day doing some background updates and, as always it seems with OSF, it didn't go smoothly.

Thanks for your efforts. I was getting an error for a few hours there that was different than before so knew something was being done in the background. You still cant read anything with the older (better) black background theme, and you have to switch to the default theme to read or post. Hopefully thats still being sorted.

It looks like you need to use the 2019 theme for it to run smoothly now.

Now that took some sorting for me being a complete IT wizard???? Till I spotted the ‘Theme’ icon at the bottom left of the page and alter the default to 2019 setting. Got it now though?

I'm afraid the black themes that some people like will be disappearing. The software developers released a big update for the board and the themes all need updated to work on it. As we have to pay a continual licence fee to use them, and ended the subscription for the black one, it will no longer work.

That's the way it is I'm afraid Chris. Maintaining two separate themes means paying two licence fees and paying someone to update two themes everytime there's a software update.

I click on the forums icon on top left of page to refresh page, and it brings up the full updated page or home page as you may call it. I’m using iPad not pc of phone wether that makes any difference not a bloody clue....lol cleared all my cookies and history and bingo I’m back on!  Just doing that though means I have to go through everything re- submitting the passwords.....is that right or am I doing something wrong??

This is really disappointing. I find the white really far too bright and there are no defined borders any longer between the side user information and the post itself. I still got an error when I logged in so its not all on the old theme either. How much extra does it cost to run the second theme? I will see if I can afford to cover the costs.

I'm afraid it isn't just the licence fee (and I wouldn't take money from you for it anyway) it's the time taken to adapt each theme each time the developers release an update. I don't have the time or IT skill to do that myself so need to pay someone else for that service.

just go back and don't update then, updates always screw up the best things

last night logging in or changing page was a major problem, not just for me, was getting the same message as colin

now, its just taking an age to do anything at all, took about 3 mins to get the main page up, went and made tea while I waited

and RP is correct, theres no definition, because the white is too bright, everything just blends in

think their arse needs kicking

Updates also address security loopholes that hackers can exploit Ray. Going back isn't an option.

The white is no different to working in MS Office. I prefer it personally. 

The slowness I believe is a server issue, I am working on that too.

Yes, I know there are still things amiss, still chasing them down.

With the original black your profile image and details appeared as separate to the body of text you typed in with each post. With the white its like its just all plonked into one open box.

Not many sites have a bright stark white though. If you look closely they may have white boarders but the main body of the pages are very subtly shaded. Ebays is blue for example and many others are off white or beige but its so minor that you barely notice the shading and simply perceive it as white till you see it overlain with a white border or something. In fact you can see it here on the forum with the slightly shaded quotes in this very post. Having a new computer hasn't helped either as I haven't even acquired a layer of dust and fizzy drink splatter stains to dull the image a bit. I would be happy to contribute to maintaining the other theme though if it were possible. I serious hate change and will avoid it whenever I can. I still have my Escorts after thirty years simply because I'm too lazy to learn to fix something else not cause I like them.

I only use two forums, though almost exclusively this one, and the other one is...........you got it, white. Albeit with blue borders to our black / dark grey
