Due to reasons I cant fully go into yet I'm not able to attend rally day 2020, however I can get a stand set up.

I want to trailer the Mex to pure ford and proper thrash it. Getting fed up with it breaking down on public roads. At least if it conks out up there I will know I had fun doing it 😂

Got to the point where I cant Trust it on a road run so gonna look into track events with it. Which was always the plan when  my estate is finished

Not sure I could do that to a mex....
Always found them pretty basic to work on, can't you get it sorted once the estate's done?

I agree if you can just hang in there with it, it should be a super reliable car. I thought it was pretty standard and not overly modified? I used one of my Escorts every day for decades, toured around Australia in it and drove it to Melbourne and back 15 times over the years. Thats also in our excessive heat. It probably something tiny that you just haven't considered yet. Given the things you have mentioned you have tried Im sure you are close to a solution if you stick with it.

Until I've put it through its passes I wont know if I've fixed it or not. Rather it cut out on circuit with a trailer on standby that the outside lane of a busy motorway like last time.

It's no concourse show winner

What loom are you running in it?

@Rally Pack 2000 whenever it cut out I had noone around who knew what the problem could be. When someone was around to help it would work fine.

The only thing left is the loom if that's breaking down ......?

The strangest things you dont think are connected creating havoc behind the scenes. My last overheating problem related to an alternator bolt the exhaust man nicked! I once had a cut out short related to a loom. The clock loom no less. In the centre console facing downwards it would make contact with the carpet. Whenever it got humid the carpet form a circuit and car would just die. Took me ages to figure that one out.

I thought you had sorted this. Is it still playing up?

Rally day news!!!

Chaps they have changed the date to 20th June. That's the week before our Tour of the Moor event. I've posted on here as some of you want to do RD over PF. However there is no way I can do rally day now. If there is enough interest I can organise ticket sales. Will post a separate thread later.

It was a rally car before I had it. It was made to be driven hard. If you ent gonna use it for what it was built for you might as well stuff it and mount in a museum!!!!

whilst such things as race track events etc are something ive yet to experience, imho, im with Mexican Gerbil and Vista, that in the scheme of things I don't consider £20 per car expensive, especially as that can come down to £5 a head

you have to consider what theyre providing for that, toilets etc, and the unseen insurances etc
