Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted September 29, 2020 Moderator Report Posted September 29, 2020 Just when you think you cant be shocked by the price of an OSF Part someone will just break that glass ceiling and and leave you flabbergasted (I rarely get to use that word in conversation 😛). Post those memorable ones that have left you gasping for air! Shock us, I dare you! I will kick off with a familiar one that I posted on a parts wanted thread. A thousand quid for a plastic tube hidden behind the engine. 1

Thats one of the items Im looking for as well! LOL The car never had its water bottle from the moment I got it an decades later I still haven't done anything about it. (work in progress and all that) The Trouble I have with the cheese wedge bottles is they look so old an weathered even in mint condition and the cheese name is well deserved cause that's their colour. I have been considering a later type bottle instead and you can get nice replica ones of those for 45 quid and they are nice and white.
Xp197777 Posted September 30, 2020 Report Posted September 30, 2020 Yes but it’s got to be original I’ve heard if you put them in the washing machine with a towel they come up well lol

At those prices I would be too scared to pop one in the washing machine! I would end up with a bad of plastic bits im sure.
Xp197777 Posted September 30, 2020 Report Posted September 30, 2020 Probably but it has worked Apparently

They come up really well and no heat damage.

They definitely must be keepers for their tolerance! LOL 2
Xp197777 Posted September 30, 2020 Report Posted September 30, 2020 No just got a fridge and washing machine in the garage one refreshes parts and the other holds beer which refreshes me 😂 lol 2 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted October 17, 2020 Author Moderator Report Posted October 17, 2020 To be fair, while this seems very very high I actually bought one of these new from Ford back in the late 80s early 90s and it was 250 quid back then which I considered at the time proportionally one of the most expensive original parts I ever bought. Add for inflation and all that, it really is equivalent to the cost of the same back in the day. I see why most just adopt the RS style plain metal dash look instead.
Jerrytom161 Posted October 18, 2020 Report Posted October 18, 2020 Hard to get new what i am after but this guy has everything .... out of my price range ..... the search goes on !!lol
Ray Posted October 18, 2020 Report Posted October 18, 2020 cheap dave, go for it, you know you want to, thats the first thing everyone sees, its a must 1

Huge Posted October 18, 2020 Report Posted October 18, 2020 Bought this from Australia in June when I refurbed Daisy’s fuel tank - £170 for a piece of NOS pipe that you don’t see 🤯
Xp197777 Posted October 18, 2020 Report Posted October 18, 2020 I’ve got one of those spare daisy didn’t realise you needed one 1

I actually didn't know they had the extended ht. pick-up - obviously Ford knew fuel would get / have water contamination, shame Ford didn't make the tanks rust resistant at the same time!

LOL A word of advice just use as a last resort when you absolutely know you wont get it anywhere else. Try resist that "I need it now and pay" frustration and be patient till a better priced version comes your way. But yes I have purchased there with lack of options. @Jerrytom161 There was a seller on Ebay doing aftermarket ones of these just the other day as I needed one for my Twincam as well having never had the heater connected for the past quarter century. (Hey its Australia and I would just drive the Mk2 in Winter instead)

Brilliant & yes but there’s a problem with that good, rational, sensible, advice ................the lack of patience, tbh I don’t mind waiting as long as I can have it NOW!!!!! 🤣 1

Ray Posted October 18, 2020 Report Posted October 18, 2020 RP, the repro heater matrixes you refer to are absolute junk tbh, i bought one a few years back, wrong physical size, incorect fpi and fluid channels, they basically hold half the amount of fluid a ford one does, i replaced that for a genuine ford NOS one in the end, what Dave aka jerrytom is after is a NOS genuine ford one, as most of the used ones usually leak, dave pressure tests them and most if not all hes bought have been leakers
