Mr Sam Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 ...........drum roll please........... finally put my engine back together after changing the head gasget all by myself (im no mechanic trust me but not totally dumb when it comes to engines) but got it all back together turned the key without the plugs in just get fuel in the carb again put all the plugs in turned the key......started firing out the carb thought to hell with it and kept cranking and she fired!!! engine souns like a sewing machine the new exhaust (totally standard system) sounds oh so sweet and i couldnt help myself having a thrash up the drive....... OH HOW IVE MISSED THE SWEET SWEET ROAR OF A CARB FED ENGINE anyway gotta fiddle with valve clearances to quiten the tappets down get the cooling fan working again bonnet on, air filter on and book it in for an MOT 3 cheers for sammy and a huge huge huge thanks to all those that have given help and advice when ive been asking questions many thanks people

Mr Sam Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 come to think of it ive actually done 2 head gasgets as ive done my 1600 lump at the same time my next project is the other 1100 engine as ive got the head off gonna strip it down get it ported/polished thanks for all your congrats im sure most of you do 1 every other week but the first is a mile stone especially when its on the daily driver
