Hi all

So there's nothing wrong with the car and it's runs very well ( except the funny wine from the diff)

But recent copy of classic ford mag had engine swops in there

Unfortunately not mentioning the mk1 Tina.

So in your opinion what's the easiest/best/cheapest engine swop I could make if I were to go that route.

As ECUs and sensors are beyond my brain, My personal choice would be throwing a big old v8 in there but I'm curious what you good people think.

Thanks

Depends on your fabrication skills and how deep your pockets are ! If the desire is a 'big V8' maybe choose a Ford Duratec 24v V6 and outfit it with carbs and a NoDiz type distributorless ignition. Modern engine so spares still cheap and available, plenty of go, not too big and still accepts Ford RWD gearboxes! But probably will involve some engine mount fabrication as i'm not aware of anyone doing a conversion kit!

2.0 Zetec would be your easiest route for a modern engine with lots of parts available.

However, I've seen some nice Cosworth BOAs and BOBs fitted to various cars and they look good.

Had a passenger ride in a Sierra with a BOA fitted and it was seriously strong 😈

You didn't put the wife in the boot after you told her you were going to change an engine that runs perfectly fine for another by any chance? That would explain any funny wine moving from the front seat to the rear! We have told you this before keep it secret till after you've done it! Better for ask for forgiveness than permission!

I done one better than that, I live on my own now 😂 advantage of her having an affair 👍😂

But even if that wasn't the case, the engine would've only cost about 55 quid an the work my fabricator friend done on the gearbox tunnel was free as I sorted out his faulty washing machine.... Honest. 🤫😂

So you gave her the boot rather than putting her in one, that works too!

The only way I could get some aircon fitted was in exchange for fixing a guys Twincam. You have to go with whatever way you can.

I recently done the ST170 conversion. I wasn't able to do it myself so a garage did it. Parts alone for the conversion and then fuelling ran to over £4000. It's not a cheap thing but, you're probably able to do a lot yourself!

Yea I was expecting it to be quite expensive, that's why mx5 may be a good way forward
